Position Summary

 

Manage execution of Packaging related projects and initiatives at Head Office  level in line with corporate packaging policies in terms of quality, cost, safety and compliance.

A day in the life of...

 

  • New Product Development & Introduction:  Lead Packaging projects & trials at HO Level in direct contact with the Marketing and Sales Team and the factory, with focus on line performance, cost efficiency on time delivery and product quality. Provide packaging input proposing and evaluating best packaging alternatives for new products and improvements to existing products. Organise  and document factory trials including machinability and transport tests for validation of new packaging and changes in specifications.Integrate all the activities across the Idea to Launch Process
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance: Implement packaging related quality and compliance directives.  Drive quality improvements in our packaging. Assist Factory QA to review packaging related on-line/off-line controls. Provide to the Safety & Compliance Specialist all the information to obtein the DoC's and LoC's  and to implement packaging monitoring plans.  Participate in supplier audits when needed.
  • Consumer Complaints: Analyze  consumer complaints related to packaging , propose & implement corrective actions.
  • Supplier development: Support Packaging Head Office and Procurement in the selection, assessment and development of new suppliers/converters.  Raise packaging material complaints with suppliers & collaborate to resolve them.
  • People & Know How: Disseminate packaging best practices and knowledge at the shop floor (e.g. "One Point Lessons").  Source & utilise training materials available within the Group (or develop training materials as appropriate)
  • Packaging Material and Packaging Lines Efficiency in line with the goals of NCE Zero waste, Zero loss: Accountable for efficiency in Packaging Lines and Materials usage. Support to Procurement on local & zone level.

  • Supply Chain Efficiency: Develop the secundary and terciary packaging to ensure the good performance of the palletized products; reduction of the bad goods and optimization of the TDC. Create specifications together with the Marketing and Sales Team and according with the customers needs and expectations. Collaborate with the factory to achieve excellence in stretch film operations. Create and provide the Palletization Sheets to the factory and the Sales Team.
  • Artworks approval:  Responsible for the approval of the repro files and arworks, in Content Hub and via e-mail for some countries, in order to ensure the adaptations of graphics to the technical drawing, and the good performance of the printing materials in our lines
  • Copacking activities: Together with Marketing, define the best option to create promotional SKU's; help in the creation of the copacking briefings if needed. Validate the physical samples prior to the first production.
  • Green dot information: Provide the data to pay the feed of the Green Dot; ensure the accuracy of the data, and inform the organization about changes in the specification that affect the weight of the packaging materials.

 

What will make you successful

 

Academic Experience:

  • Graduate in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanics, Industrial, Chemistry or Automation or equivalent (Materials Science, Printing).                                                                      

Operational Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in packaging development and packing operation in FMCG industry.
  • Knowledge of problem solving and project management..
  • Valuable previous experience in a factory.
  • Experience in supplier auditing.

Other skills:

  • Fluent in English
  • To be able to work in a network & interact with Packaging & Design peers across the organisation.
    Look constantly for existing good practices to be "imported" & implemented.
