Position Summary

 

In order to complete our IT Platforms Department, we are currently looking for a Technology Expert – Omni Channel Infrastructure DBA

 

In this position, you are responsible for ensuring that operational deployment and production realization of business solutions running on Oracle databases meet Omni Channel and eCommerce business needs in terms of availability, stability and reliability.  You own and drive the "How" through 3rd party suppliers, ensuring SLA/SLO adherence as well as compliance. You guide and promote the optimal use of technology to support the cost-effective delivery of business requirements within your area of expertise. Working at the leading edge of IS/IT for the Omni Channel Infrastructure team, the Technology Expert also performs preliminary studies to help set the future technological direction of the organization with the platform manager.  Since you will be interacting with internal and external teams across different levels in the organization, good communication and stakeholder management is required.

Key responsibilities

 

  • Provide deep technical guidance and support for databases used by the business.
  • Works with the Solution Architect to ensure enterprise architecture principles are followed.
  • Responsible and accountable for defining operational requirements for new and existing solutions.
  • Reviews new solutions and processes and provides operational input and sign-off.
  • Investigates and reviews existing solution deficiencies and gaps (especially solution stability and availability).
  • Support the integration of solutions with various technologies.
  • Support and influence the technical activity (design, build, testing) in significant or complex innovation initiatives.
  • Manage the implementation of change requests and collaborate on post-implementation reviews and problem resolution.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and delivery of services.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all solutions within their technology area are delivered and maintained secure and compliant with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Work with IS/IT Innovation Managers, Platform Managers, Tech Leads, Solution Architects and Business Analysts as required to ensure any solution within their specific specialization fits with the organization’s strategic and technical direction.
Are you a fit?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in designing, building, testing, and supporting Oracle environments.
  • Experience in handling multi-terabyte databases on various Oracle versions (10g, 11g, 12c, 18c) over different OS platforms (mainly AIX and Linux).
  • Experience in setting up Oracle RAC, Data Guard, backups and DR tests.
  • Experience in troubleshooting production database performance issues and long running jobs including query tuning, Optimizer concepts, knowledge of statistics, plan basics and advisor knowledge.
  • Experience with replication technology such as Active Data Guard and GoldenGate.
  • Experience with scripting (Shell, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience with supporting 1st Level offshore partners, server/storage teams and end users for BAU day-to-day support.
  • Experience with successfully leading technical evaluations.
  • Certifications in corresponding technical fields is a plus.
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as agile software development, rapid prototyping and DevOps, project management principles).
  • Understanding and knowledge of IS/IT standards and controls.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with a root cause elimination and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication at different levels in the organization.  English language is a must.
  • Must be willing to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and with virtual teams.
