Position Summary

 

Since the doors opened in 1972, our Atlanta factory has grown dramatically into a state-of-the-art facility. With sustainability and safety at the forefront of our minds, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Friskies®, Purina ONE®, and Pro Plan®. Our factory does our part for the environment by conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, maintaining zero waste for disposal and more. This plant location is situated along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta—an area that nearly 6 million residents and many of our associates call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast, and together, we contribute to the growth of businesses and population, building the city's strong logistics, entertainment and film, and health services industries.

 

As a Product Safety Specialist, you’ll perform inspection of incoming equipment, new plant installations, spot check incoming and outgoing trailers for infestation and structural integrity.  You will communicate findings and maintain records. Work collaboratively across departments including Production, Maintenance, and Product Safety as you ensure quality throughout our processes. Quality and safety are the promises we make on every bag, container, tub, and you can make an impact with us and help deliver on that promise.
 

  • Identify and treat three primary types of pest contamination: insect, bird, and rodent.
  • Sample and test incoming ingredients that include but are not limited to physical testing, EB testing, environmental sampling, and testing of rail cars, trucks, bins, sacks, and totes.
  • Audit and maintain sanitation of work areas and equipment throughout the factory.
  • Comply with all safety regulations involving conduct of the job to include respiratory protection, protective clothing, and medical testing.
  • Comply with all regulatory statutes to include MSDS, applicator certification, documentation logs, and labels.
  • Assist Product Safety Team Leader in heat treatment, warehouse fogging, and rail car/truck fumigation and aeration.
  • Reorder and inventory stock of sanitation and pest control materials.
  • Perform pheromone monitoring, installation, investigation and appropriate actions to include maintaining accurate records.
  • Conduct weed control of surrounding property.
  • Monitor and maintain mechanical traps and rodent bait stations.


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in quality or pest management within a food manufacturing, lab or related environment 

 

Other

  • Must be willing and capable of obtaining the 2 following certifications within the first year of hire: (38) Agricultural Commodity Fumigation and (35) Industrial, Institutional, Structural and Health Related Pest Control.

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $41,000.00 to $54,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
