POSITION SUMMARY

Since the doors opened in 1972, our Atlanta factory has grown dramatically into a state-of-the-art facility. With sustainability and safety at the forefront of our minds, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Friskies®, Purina ONE®, and Pro Plan®. Our factory does our part for the environment by conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, maintaining zero waste for disposal and more. This plant location is situated along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta—an area that nearly 6 million residents and many of our associates call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast, and together, we contribute to the growth of businesses and population, building the city's strong logistics, entertainment and film, and health services industries. 

 

As a Materials Clerk, you’ll manage and execute the ordering, delivery, and inventory of bulk and sacked ingredients for our production plant. Flex your management and organizational skills as you work closely with suppliers, carriers, and other procurement levels to support timely and cost-effective delivery of commodities. You’ll handle inventory monitoring, freight negotiation, invoice processing, and claim preparation to ensure a seamless experience across our processes. 

 

  • Oversee ordering, delivery, and inventory of bulk and sacked ingredients.
  • Conduct inventory reporting to determine commodity ordering requirements for the updated production schedule, including investigating and validating inventory variances.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and/or internal hired carriers to schedule just-in-time deliveries using SAP to place orders against approved corporate contracts.
  • Communicate new purchase orders to vendors, dispatch delivery appointments with carriers, continuously monitor expected shipments, and modify/expedite shipments (as needed) to support changes in production schedule/commodity inventory position.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers, execute necessary paperwork (Appendix B’s, etc), and plan/maintain freight numbers for billing.
  • Build strong partnerships with suppliers, procurement specialists, at market buyers, and above market buyers as you work closely with all procurement levels on contracts.
  • Process rejected (VNR) loads to include all truck and rail and validate truck detention requests.
  • Review manifolds for errors, wash tickets, health certificates, weight discrepancies, and carrier data forms and escalate as appropriate.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years’ experience performing administrative duties in a manufacturing, military, logistics or related field.
  • 2+ years' SAP experience

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $47,000 to $78,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
