Position Summary
Since the doors opened in 1972, this factory has grown dramatically into a sustainable state-of-the-art facility. In 2013, we completed our largest solar project yet by installing a 450-kilowatt photovoltaic system of nearly 1,900 panels. The amount of energy produced annually by this solar array could power nearly 52 average-sized homes, or approximately 5,000 lights bulbs for an entire year. With sustainability and safety always top of mind, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Fit & Trim®, Friskies®, Nestlé Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®.
As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and supervising construction and commissioning according Nestle contractor management policies. You will also actively participate in plant-wide initiatives such as TPM, safety and quality programs. You will also maintain working knowledge of engineering environmental systems including air, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and solid waste.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver long term value through safe, on quality, on-schedule, on budget execution of capital improvement projects.
- Develop project scope and specifications through proactive engagement with local and corporate internal stakeholders.
- Develop compelling project justifications in order to bring capital investment to the factory.
- Execute projects throughout the factory and grounds including new production equipment, raw materials management, warehousing, plant layout, and utilities such as steam, electrical power service, compressed gases, water, sewer, HVAC, lighting, buildings, and fire protection systems to provide for continuous and safe factory operation.
- Conduct project bidding according to Nestle competitive bidding guidelines.
- Responsible for management of cost, schedule and performance for assigned projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATION (Minimum)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering or project management role within a manufacturing, industrial, military environment, or related environment
