Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will assist with ingredient and finished product testing as well as ensuring food safety for all pet food manufactured at the Flagstaff factory. You possess a broad understanding of food safety standards, compliance, sanitation principles and good laboratory practices. Day to day, you will set up and monitor the sensory lab, support microbiological testing, and enter quality test data. You will have the opportunity to cross-train and gain experience in multiple areas across QA to strengthen your skillset.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sample finished product and perform tests for bushel weight, date codes, composition, color, shape, size, odor, etc., based on quality management systems and finished product specifications
  • Enter data from test results on ingredients and finished product into databases
  • Communicate laboratory results to production in a timely manner to ensure a quality product
  • Prioritize good laboratory and sanitation practices
  • Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment including troubleshooting and calibrating
  • Work cross-functionally with production, packing, maintenance and safety teams to ensure a continuous flow of quality and efficiency throughout the plant

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

OTHER

  • Prefer experience working in a quality, manufacturing, laboratory, military or related environment, but not required
  • Must be flexible in terms of your availability and willingness to work a rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts
