Materials Planning Specialist

Materials Planning Specialist

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain Operations, this person will plan and schedule production & materials to meet business objectives of customer demand, product availability, freshness and cost.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish production plans for the factory in the short and long term
  • Purchase raw and packaging materials to support production plans
  • Analyse exceptions and adjust plans and purchases based on priorities
  • Interpret and effectively provide relevant information – highlighting supply issues, proposed actions and related trade offs
  • Manage stakeholder relationships – suppliers, internal customers (operations, quality, warehouse, maintenance, engineering), new product development
  • Achieve business objectives and desired KPIs (Customer Order Fulfilment, Factory Attainment)
  • Exhibit safe work habits to ensure a safe working environment
  • Driving working capital and customer order fulfillment

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • BS degree is desirable or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years progressive experience in production scheduling, production, materials handling, logistics, procurement
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build & manage relationships
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Planning, organizational and analytical skills
  • See big picture and have end-to-end cycle thinking
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve effectively
  • Knowledge/proficiency in SAP, MRP or ERP systems, Microsoft
