Position Summary

 

As the Manufacturing Technical Services Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the formulation and manufacturing process for our powder products. Working collaboratively with multiple teams, you will have the chance to make a significant impact by improving existing products, addressing manufacturing issues, evaluating new technologies and ingredients, seeking cost savings, and maintaining valuable networks of external partners.

 

Your expertise and contributions will be instrumental in driving innovation and continuous improvement within operations. By working closely with cross-functional teams, you will have the opportunity to enhance our products, optimize manufacturing processes, and explore new possibilities for growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Formulating nutritional supplement products in various forms to support manufacturing.
  • Assisting in creating and approving new raw material specifications, master batch records, change controls, deviations, or other required documentation for manufacturing existing in-line products.
  • Assisting in scaling up, validating, and transferring technologies/processes to other internal manufacturing sites or external partners.
  • Defining and implementing solutions for routine tasks, ensuring milestones are achieved with high-quality standards.
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing, including formulation or process improvement, formulation globalization, cost-saving initiatives, and troubleshooting.
  • Interacting with cross-functional teams such as Quality, Procurement, Product Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve issues during new product development or existing product improvement.
  • Negotiating timeline commitments among team members to achieve agreed objectives and completion of activities.
  • Rapidly communicating major changes to project plans to managers/directors.
  • Setting and refining individual priorities to remain focused on objectives and project milestones in rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Actively seeking innovative and more efficient ways of doing things, eliminating non-value-added steps in processes and procedures.
  • Exploring and sharing new scientific information, technologies, products, and processes within the Science and Technology community.
  • Building awareness of external developments through attendance/presentations at trade associations or scientific meetings.
  • Maintaining external collaborations with suppliers, academia, and professional bodies.
  • Performing comprehensive, sophisticated, and critical evaluation of own data.
  • Ensuring that all internal and external work activities are conducted in accordance with appropriate standards, Company policies, laws, quality standards, SOPs, etc.

 

Experience &  Education Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related discipline. Extensive relevant industry experience will be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with laboratory activities, technology transfers, Quality by Design, and/or Operational Excellence tools.
  • Proficiency in using scientific principles to develop or optimize formulation and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong laboratory and experimental skills, data analysis, and written and verbal reporting.
  • Preferably, a successful track record in the development of powder products.
  • Working knowledge of powder blending, filling, and packaging equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams, including product development using Stage/Gate methodology, and foster a team approach to achieve project goals.
  • Ability to lift approximately 40 pounds.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment and adjust effectively.
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve efficiency and quality standards while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Creative and intellectually curious, willing to try different and novel approaches to problem-solving and obstacle removal.
