Position Summary

 

As a Materials Planning Specialist you will be responsible for ordering materials, including raw materials and packaging materials, to meet inventory requirements and ensure the achievement of our customer service goals. You will work closely with the Planning Team, Vendors, Brand Managers, and Procurement to coordinate and optimize the materials planning process. As a Materials Planning Specialist, you will play a vital role in reviewing the master plan and ensuring the timely ordering of required materials. By effectively balancing orders, you will contribute to the successful execution of the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Order all raw materials and/or packaging materials as required, to support the detailed production plan while managing stock cover targets and working capital.
  • Monitor supply signals using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) purchase requisitions to ensure delivery dates, lead times, and required quantities are correct to create purchase orders.  Follow-up with suppliers to ensure material fulfillment.  Tracking should be completed, and actions taken if material is unavailable when needed based on detailed production plan.
  • Identify possible material supply concerns and roadblocks for the factory and escalate to production scheduling supervisor.
  • Review and maintain material master data on a regular basis, validating with suppliers and procurement that proper lead times, min/max inventory levels, safety stocks, and lot sizes are defined.
  • Provide direction on matters regarding supply chain, forecasting, production planning and development.
  • Perform additional duties and requirements as assigned by direct Manager.

 

Experience & Education Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Production Planning, Supply Chain, Procurement, and/or Project Management required (equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered - e.g., High School Diploma with 4+ years of relevant work experience) in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated fluency in Word and Excel (intermediate level)
  • Experience using ERP systems, such as SAP, in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company preferred.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Exposure to KPIs and Master Data Management.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), time management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills required.
  • Willingness and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to influence without authority and effectively manage key stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented with strong negotiation skills.

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
