POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform microbiological testing as requested to support Nestle Infant Nutrition manufacturing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Systems
- Implement method validations/verifications
- Create or revise work instructions, and data logbooks
- Monitor conformance to internal control plans
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies
- Research, develop, and implement new analytical methods and instruments
- Ensure compliance to all Nestle work instructions
Analytical Methods and Tests
- Sample collection from the factory as needed.
- Proficient in carrying out the required analyses according to standard procedures and work instruction following Nestle approved methods.
- Responsible for interpreting results and for reproducibility and repeatability of analyses.
- Interpret and implement Nestle analytical methods
- Show competency through successful participation in Nestle proficiency test program.
- Utilize critical thinking to troubleshoot all testing/sampling and instrument abnormalities to ensure proper reporting of results
- Maintain lab instruments. Perform troubleshooting and minor repair.
- Prepare samples for external testing
Results Reporting
- Perform peer review of laboratory data
- Evaluate method validation/verification data and write final reports
- Review laboratory data and conduct investigations of out of specification or out of trend results.
- Collects data independently or as part of a team and can present a data summary using Excel and charting.
- Review and manage result reports from external laboratory testing
Plant Support
- Responsible to follow and uphold all Food Safety, Food Quality, Occupational, Health, and Environment policies and procedures as pertains to role.
- Provide support to the Hygienist to assist in the implementation and audit of sanitation procedures, GMP policies, and environmental monitoring.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology or similar field of study
- Knowledge of general microbiology and food microbiology
Preferred: Previous experience in another laboratory or analytical environment
SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate efficiently internally and externally
- Able to multi-task. Must exhibit good time management skills.
- Excellent documentation skills
- Able to understand, clarify, and resolve complex problems or issues
- Disciplined in execution to deliver reliable results in a timely manner
- Able to work and communicate with people of different backgrounds and technical levels.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, etc.)
