POSITION SUMMARY:

The Factory Quality Supervisor is vital in preventing significant negative brand image impact as a potential result of non-confirming goods.  Main job focus is on prevention and minimizing rejections, improvement of factory processes, and positive impact on plant costs of Quality and non-Quality.  Leads a small team to plan, coordinate, and execute quality activities related to the production and release for a business unit produced in accordance with government regulations and Nestlé standards in a cost-effective manner. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality guardianship - Notify appropriate production personnel / management of significant deviations and products blocked.  Member of the Factory Food Safety Team and responsible for upholding line specific HACCP, risk assessments, and corresponding Quality Monitoring Scheme.

People and know-how – Promote quality awareness and commitment to quality across the business unit.  Develop, provide, and facilitate Quality training modules for the Business unit staff.  Lead and motivate small team in the achievement of their objectives. Contribute to the development of competence of quality professionals.

Quality System – Define and update specific quality procedures, instructions, and tools for the Business unit. Contribute to defining and follow-up on quality KPIs.  Set operational objectives in collaboration with the Factory Quality Manager.  Author and revise forms / SOPs as necessary.

Quality Mastership – Support Nestlé Continuous Excellence program in the quest for zero defect and zero waste.  Support activities to achieve compliance with the Nestlé Quality Management System requirements and other applicable instructions and standards.  Assist and support all validation activities in the Business unit.  Act as a Quality liaison for the Business unit for Hygiene, HACCP, & Thermal process activities.

Quality auditing and verification – Support Business unit readiness for internal and external audits.  Perform trouble shooting and corrective action follow up of non-conformities.  Support Management of Change (MOC) implementation.  Work with external certification and regulatory parties as required such as FDA, USDA, PMO, Kosher, and Organic programs.

Quality by design – Support and act as Quality liaison for projects during industrialization and launch steps.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred area of focus Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or a science related field required

EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related Quality experience required in a manufacturing regulatory environment (food or pharma preferred); exposure to ready to eat snacks ideal.
  • 1-3 years leadership experience highly preferred; exposure to the audit process.
  • Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams and different initiatives.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities amongst diverse groups of people – both on site and off location.
  • Must demonstrate excellent, timely, and clear verbal and written communication to multiple levels within the organization.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office and SAP systems.  Will learn other software systems to perform job duties.
