POSITION SUMMARY:

This position would oversee securing upstream quality through vendor and raw material qualifications and supporting manufacturing in raw material management for Nestle Nutrition (Gerber). This role will provide ingredient technical matter expertise support throughout the organization, assisting with training raw material QA experts and other stakeholders involved in qualification and ingredient supply management. This role will provide independent critical thinking and detailed oriented problem solving to drive internal and external compliance.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Outputs:

I&R related activities:

  • Support raw material qualification work for Market lead Innovation & Renovation (I&R) to achieve Quality by Design, including detailed review and approval of qualification documents.
  • Approves Nestle specifications such as RMPS and RMS related to I&R projects and specifications used within the assigned factories and Co-Man.
  • Authors, reviews, and approves MR specifications, and provides verification of vendor RMPS and MR sign off with model COA compliance to MR/RMPS requirements.
  • Evaluates Vendor site qualification for assigned projects and applications.
  • Participates in vendor discussions as QA market expert providing subject matter expertise.
  • Participates as market contact for assigned factories and or Co-Man for specification author.

Factory related activities:

  • Support factories QA team and Co-Man Quality in managing and validating new and existing raw materials.
  • Support exceptional release process in providing expertise and mass balance if applicable.

Quality activities:

  • Participates in related improvement initiatives such as Tech Service Projects, Cost Savings Project, Ensure Supply, or others by supporting the roll-out of new ingredients for assigned factories, with support of the Ingredient Quality Manager.
  • Provides support as Technical Subject Matter Owner (SMO) and consulting support across Market, Factories, Technical and Operational groups, and I&R teams.
  • Support as a Point of Contact for US Nestle Nutrition within Global SPM.
  • Provides and assists where appropriate, orientation and training on new or existing ingredient quality standards, with an emphasis on ingredient/vendor qualification.
  • Lead supplier visits and supplier investigation where required to support qualifications and quality concerns as well as supplier Audits where support is needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Compliance activities:

  • Lead compliance through continued support in Exceptional Releases, Mass Balances, Derogations, and Conditional Approval actions.
  • Drive compliance through coordinating alignment with key stakeholders and ingredient Vendors.
  • Support Heavy Metals compliance in accordance with Nestle internal and external requirements and changes.
  • Support in the authoring an approval of local SOPs and documents.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferred Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience, preferred in Quality Assurance, Supplier Management, or Food Manufacturing related field of work
  • Auditing experience a plus
  • HACCP Certification a plus
  • FSSC 22000 certification a plus
  • Position requires approximately 5% travel as needed
