JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Pilot Plant Operations Manager provides leadership and strategic direction related to Nestle Development Center (NDC) Fremont’s Pilot Plant Operations and Maintenance, Site Safety, and Health and Environment (SHE) in partnership with the Senior Manager of Quality and Food Safety. This includes ensuring alignment and efficient use of local capabilities and resources to enable innovation (product, process, packaging) for the Nestle Nutrition global Baby Food category.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Operational management and planning to execute Pilot Plant trials in a timely and efficient manner
  • Lead all aspects of Maintenance and Improvement of Pilot plant equipment and local IT infrastructure
  • Lead the development of the long-term capital investment strategy for the Pilot Plant
  • Ensure compliance of Pilot Plant facilities and infrastructure in terms of Quality & Food Safety, SH&E, Nestlé Policy, Guidelines and Regulations
  • Lead and support the internal Functional Compliance Process across NDC Fremont
  • Ensure material and finished product availability from procurement and final disposition
  • Lead and coach team to deliver on performance objectives, define personal and professional develop plans / career development 
  • Oversight and ensure compliance of warehouse equipment to ensure operational and records maintained
  • Support innovation efforts and Transfer knowledge of new technologies to Support industrialization and Factory Start-up. 
  • Management and continuous improvement of operating expenses
  • Embed process improvement mindset as ways of working. 
  • Partner with Quality Management lead and provide leadership of NMS program to sustain compliance and improve efficiency and effectiveness

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field
  • Experience in managing people in a technical function
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in operations and/or supply chain, site safety, health, quality in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading or contributing to the preparation of CapEx project submissions including preparation of investment budgets
  • Basic knowledge in Quality, Food Safety, Occupational, Safety, Health and Environment requirements
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop people
  • Strong team player, excellent communication/relational and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to lead/manage/complete projects with minimal supervision. Creative and innovative with a sense of urgency and passion.
