POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for providing support to the Production Manager. This includes supporting core daily operational duties, coaching and leading continuous improvement activities and projects, and development of core training curriculum of supervision and front-line leaders to enhance process mastership of our teams

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the business unit to assure collaboration of shifts to guarantee smooth transitions 
  • Provides leadership/direction to salaried and hourly employees
  • Ensure that personnel are properly trained and following approved processes to facilitate the manufacturing of quality goods based on accepted practices, regulatory requirements, and/or company policies
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve production goals

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, recommend, develop and implement improvements in safety, quality, processes, costs and SOP documentation
  • Leads and coaches our teams through process improvement activities and projects that drive reduction in top losses
  • Help identify long-term opportunities and solutions for continuous improvement. Promote open communications between shifts and departments. Develop teamwork approach to teams
  • Actively participates and drives the facility’s TPM / continuous improvement/ digitalization initiatives
  • Set ambitious objectives and motivate the team to achieve them

 Education and Training

  • Responsible for development of supervisor and team leader onboarding curriculum and training effectiveness/ verification for key systems and processes in the department
  • Supports the verification of the employee and team leader qualification process across department
  • Lead the further development of training material, work instructions, standard routines, and overall effectiveness of systems and process knowledge

Safety, Health, and Environmental

  • Responsible to have safe work instructions available for all positions
  • Follow all sanitation, GMP, safety, quality and employee relation programs
  • Ensure all employees have the required level of safety training, all equipment and installations are well maintained with safety guards & devices and associates are using the appropriate PPE
  • Assure activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management systems.

Perform other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Must have a BS/BA degree with 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.  

 

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment. 

Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.

Previous supervisory/people leader responsibilities helpful.

Preferred experience in the food processing, aseptic or pharmaceutical industry. 

 

SKILLS:

Mentor and lead teams of diverse memberships to successful results

Comprehend, educate others and enforce relevant policies/procedures pertinent to safety, quality, sanitation, security and operations

Communicate with all levels of personnel and elevate issues when necessary

Schedule finite resources effectively so continuous improvement is not sacrifices for day to day results

Develop systems for standardization of work functions

Represent departmental interests while participating on cross functional teams

Demonstrated ability to utilize a personal computer effectively in a LAN environment.

Proven skill in analytical thinking, understanding, technical concepts, and problem solving 

Must be able to work all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd and alternative work week).
