Job Summary:  A detail-oriented Wastewater Operator is critical to ensuring our facility’s wastewater treatment operations. Operators must meet and exceed environmental compliance standards, including NPDES permit requirements and Nestlé’s internal policies. As well as adhere to all nestle guidelines, all local, state, and Federal laws.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude along with basic electrical and general maintenance skills.
  • Apply consistent troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform laboratory testing for wastewater systems, including BOD, suspended solids, chlorine residuals, pH, and other required analyses.
  • Maintain working knowledge of water and wastewater systems and related equipment.
  • Recommend process improvements within assigned areas to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Coordinate the purchase and use of chemicals, ensuring cost-effective application and compliance.
  • Properly use and maintain tools and instruments required for daily operations.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all procedures are performed in accordance with safety standards.
  • Complete scheduled, emergency, and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Minimize equipment and system downtime through proactive maintenance and rapid response.
  • Utilize root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required reports and documentation.
  • Record and interpret data from meters, gauges, and telemetry systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of chemical storage areas and feed systems.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs, lab records, and compliance documentation.
  • Continuing education and annual renewal are required to maintain certification.

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma
  • Complete a minimum of Class D wastewater classification within first year of employment.
  • One year of experience in wastewater operations preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems without direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions including heat, humidity, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and respirators.
  • Perform tasks that require manual dexterity and visual acuity for equipment monitoring and sample analysis.
  • Operate forklifts or other powered industrial equipment as needed.
