Position Summary

The Group Insights team are recruiting for 2 talented Business Insight Analysts to join their team. In these exciting roles you will work closely with the Head of Consumer & Marketplace Insight & Business Intelligence & Analytics Leads to develop and drive competitive advantage through the Centre of Excellence around Data, Business Intelligence and Analytics.  This role and team are the champions of data & insight agendas supporting key business processes, enabling evidence based, timely decision making and growth through best in class & efficient business reporting and narratives. These roles: 

 

  • Play a prominent and enthusiastic role in raising the bar on UK&I Nestle Business Intelligence and Analytics agendas and the impact of Nestle’s insight in decision making.
  • Deliver best in class market and category understanding through building strong and influential relationships in NiM through business partnering with category and NiM stakeholders. Champions of creating one source of truth around category understanding and business performance.
  • Build agency relationships in order to drive real value from data and our spend, whilst driving democratization of data and insight

A day in the life of

The Business Insight Analyst has a crucial role in helping the Head of Consumer & Marketplace Insight in delivery of the mission through hands on involvement across NiM and as part of building towards the wider Global Insights agenda as a leading edge community that drives human centricity to shape the future and deliver growth at speed and scale:

 

  • Responsible for supporting BI leads in delivering initiatives identified to build the future of the Centre of Excellence.  Is excited to create a roadmap/proof of concept to delivering capability around category understanding, NiM business reporting & forecasting, advanced analytics and data integration/automation, driving true Nestle competitive advantage and enhancing our ability to win in UK marketplace.  
  • Is a strong subject matter expert in the understanding and application of syndicated data and analytics and has proven experience in driving quality narratives and custom business reporting to provoke action and decision making in generating demand functions. Accountable for driving efficiencies and consistency across categories in reporting and the creation of the monthly narratives in NiM to drive course correction, opportunities and forecasting of performance and market share. Shares narratives, where appropriate, with Business Intelligence leads to drive one source of truth at category level. 
  • Comfortable with being source agnostic and is not overly reliant on one source of data to get traction with opinions and build a broader understanding of category performance – e.g. happy using Mintel, IGD, Euromonitor, primary consumer/shopper research, Google insights, Social Intelligence etc. Strives to build holistic insights in delivery of both strategic and tactical data & insight, always ensuring timely and accurate business intelligence at the point of need. Demonstrates ability to be anticipatory in mindset to support bigger, complex questions.
  • Is able to confidently make sound recommendations and draw compelling calls to action from analysis of data and research findings. Is seen as a pro-active insights lead and a good storyteller in the eyes of stakeholders.  Is able to flex and adapt to where the business need is and actively seeks to build relationships, influence and commercial understanding with key business partners.
  • Should be able to take responsibility for the management of external agencies especially in the area of syndicated data, and potentially around knowledge management and internal/external panels. In doing so, cultivates positive and mutually beneficial relationships with those external agencies that will help deliver us a competitive advantage. Works with BI leads to ensure back end processes are in place to delivery highest level of data quality (new adds process), database management (cat definitions, hierarchies, rules books) and accuracy across NiM. Works with BI leads to implement ways of working that drive effective resource allocation and prioritisation of tasks with the agencies, ensuring we deliver best in class service levels to generating demand functions. 
  • Works hard to create a culture of joined up insight through best practice sharing and unlocking ways of working with the rest of NiM insights. Drives curation and the cultivation of ongoing knowledge through knowledge platforms and effective development of learning plans.  
     

What will make you successful

The successful candidate in this role will:

 

  • Be a strong subject matter expert with rich experience in utilising insight to drive business in the area of data & analytics expertise. They will be comfortable in leveraging a broad toolkit and taking a source agnostic approach: syndicated data (EPOS and Panel data is a must), ROI and analytics a bonus, Consumer and Shopper research techniques including social intelligence and web analytics a bonus. 
  • Have experience of analysing IRI/AC Nielsen/Kantar data to generate key insights and recommendations will be an advantage
  • Have effective analytical capability and proven track record for analyzing and distilling complex and nuanced materials and is able to weave together various sources of insight and data into strong narratives, in order to make a compelling case for action. Developing a strong storytelling style and experimenting with data visualization is key.
  • Have experience of agency management or of working for an agency.  They will have solid communication, collaboration and project management skills to enable effective resource management, prioritization and best in class service delivery from client servicing teams.
  • Have a desire to build and demonstrate commercial acumen and awareness – Experience of markets, competitors, category dynamics, retail trade, macro environment and emerging disruptors with a point of view on the Future of Food and Drink. 
  • Ideally have experience of working across a diverse portfolio of products, categories and channels 
  • Display a willingness to employ new and innovative insight approaches that support workstreams or functional vision.  They will embrace and identify best practice techniques and deploy quickly to unlock efficiencies and work smarter
  • Be aware of the importance of developing their influencing style and seek to build influence through data driven insight approaches and seek to influence business decisions and outcomes.  
  • Seek to develop into a strong strategic thinker and thought leader in the insight, marketing and business arenas. They will look to bring the outside in though taking part in external conferences and seminars to build knowledge and report back on benefits to the wider team.
