This Veterinary Nurse Development Manager role is to drive endorsement and recommendation and usage of Purina products by the veterinary nursing community in the UK.
Developing and driving the Purina Veterinary Nurse Development Programme, as a key business building tool, is a key part of demonstrating commitment and support to veterinary practices. Note that the role will involve some travelling and stays away from home.
A day in the life of Veterinary Nurse Development Manager
Through strong relationship-building, influencing key stakeholders, and working with veterinary nurses in practice, academia and other channels, the Vet Nurse Development Manager drives awareness of Purina, its nutritional expertise and the support it provides to the veterinary nursing (and vet) profession.
Responsibilities will include:
- Driving awareness of Purina and its products through visibility within the veterinary nurse profession
- To develop and maintain a strategy for building Purina business in the veterinary nursing channel
- Networking and influencing with key opinion leaders within the veterinary nursing profession and relevant stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to attendance at key nursing events such as BVNA Congress and customer congresses and may involve some weekend working (for which lieu time is given).
- Taking ownership of, developing and driving the Purina Veterinary Nurse Development Programme.
- Working with the Purina Veterinary Nutrition Partner team to drive knowledge and understanding of their customer (veterinary nurses) in practice. This includes strategic planning, creation of materials/training, delivery and operational execution in the field. This will involve some travelling within the role.
- The Nurse Development Manager will also act as a primary point of central contact for the nurses undertaking the Nurse Development role in practice. Role responsibilities here include field visits for coaching/training to supplement the support received from the VNPs.
- Support the VNP team, Veterinary Technical Manager, and Scientific Affairs Manager with technical matters to include (but not limited to) daily running of the veterinary technical helpline for practice, to include the answering and logging of technical enquiries; assist the VNP for help with training in practices; assist in the induction, training and assessment of new Purina team members, both starters and returners; develop and provide team and marketing with technical support materials.
- Maximise awareness of Purina nutrition expertise externally through, but not limited to external communications such as writing magazine articles.
What will make you successful
We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about nutrition and also veterinary nursing. You should be self starting and ideally have some commercial experience. Ideally, you’ll have the below skills and experience:
- Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with previous clinical experience in veterinary practice, or experience of working in this area in a commercial capacity.
- Must have experience of customer facing work, ideally consulting nurse
- Previous experience in delivering training or lecturing to veterinary nurses, confidence in delivery of training
- Awareness of current political developments in veterinary nursing and ability to understand how these could influence delivery and direction of strategic training requirements
- Proven interest in nutrition: may include Certificate in nutrition; track record of training in nutrition; in clinic nutrition leading; clinic nutrition advisor; lecturing on nutrition as part of nurse training.
