Our Glendale, Arizona production factory is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility and distribution center with cutting-edge technology and advanced systems designed with sustainability at the forefront. Innovative water recycling processes, zero waste to landfill, and fully recyclable product packaging made from food-safe materials are just some of the programs we’ve implemented to support Nestlé’s ambition for zero environmental impact by 2030.

This position will start on a Monday–Friday day shift schedule and eventually transition to a continuous operations schedule (24-hour/7-day). Overtime and weekend week may be required to meet critical deadlines.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Multiskilled individual with responsibility to maintain and troubleshoot all process control and operational support systems equipment in a proactive manner, troubleshoot and repair breakdowns on all major electrical and computer-based equipment. Support factory electrical & automation engineering functions. Assist with capital and process improvement project teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure accurate documentation of all electrical and automation platforms, equipment and unplanned machine stops
- Understand factory’s key processes (including Industrial Services, Quality, etc.)
- Analyze performance data to improve electrical and automation equipment unplanned stops
- Actively identify opportunities to improve key plant indicators (safety, quality, cost, and service) in E&A systems
- Support other maintenance troubleshooting and line maintenance as needed.
- Ensure the reliable operation of various systems such as Utility Management System, Energy Management System, of product Quality Control systems, including automated Statistical Process Control, Quality Management Systems, and Advanced Process Controls by interacting with cross functional teams
- Support electrical and automation training for other technicians and operators
- Support of the automation obsolescence program
- Participate in capital and process improvement teams
- Participate in Pillar Activities, AWG, MWG, IWG, and maintaining KPIs
- Execute real time trouble shooting and problem solving with maintenance /Operations team and follow-up on issues to ensure that they are completed and that the issues are addressed. Participate in Preventative maintenance completion as needed
- Participate in Problem Solving for line improvements, deviations, Safety and Quality failures. Not limited but including GSTD, Basic Fishbones, BDAs
- Reports directly to maintenance/production leadership with input from Electrical & Automation Engineer. Expectation: associate will be motivated and self-directed, requiring only nominal direct/daily supervision and adhere to Nestle vision of safe and inclusive culture
- Will work and troubleshoot equipment by interacting with cross functional departments such as Maintenance Leadership, Production Leadership, Engineering Leadership, Factory Leadership, Front Line Operators, Corporate Subject Matter Expert (SME)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Troubleshoot PLC’s, their control panels and associated hardware
- Troubleshoot HMI systems
- Assist with programming and commissioning of PLC and HMI programs
- Troubleshoot and program variable frequency drive motors, servo motors, and robot control systems
- Interpret electrical schematics and complex safety circuit networks
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits from motor starter to load, including three phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC control and power systems.
- Update motor controls circuit design
- Understand Machine Safety circuits and performance level identification
- Basic troubleshooting of messaging from production floor equipment to-and-from the networked systems (Historian)
- Knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, and instrument digital bus systems)
- Basic troubleshooting of network switches, internet routing protocols and machine messaging protocols
- Ensure documentation and backup of MES/control system network data and any system, device, or instrument configuration changes
- Instrument Calibration: Perform calibration of instruments and program documentation
- Maintain factory electrical & application program documentation.
- Perform electrical and automation equipment PM work orders in alignment with factory’s maintenance planning and scheduling
- CMMS system (SAP-AMM) – Access and utilize AMM to accurately document all maintenance activities in AMM
- Strong understanding of basic electrical components like fuses, IO cards, safety relays, VFD and servo drives
- Experience in electrical trouble shooting of electrical circuits like safety circuits, low voltage circuits
- LOTO understanding for 480V devices like MCC and Distribution panels
- This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position
REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-year Technical/Associate Degree in Electronics Technology or three years of equivalent experience
- Experience with automation systems for building, facility, Packaging. utility, and process controls preferred
- Experience with Allen Bradley Software – Studio 5000 and/or Siemens Software – TIA Portal, machine motion control programming like servos and VFD’s is preferred
- Experience with HMI systems, preferably Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View, Wonderware’s InTouch and ArchestrA platform preferred
- Experience with instrumentation calibration or ISA certification preferred
