We’re expanding our factory network and introducing a new manufacturing facility designed with the climate in mind. Our Glendale, Arizona production factory is a
brand new, state-of-the-art facility and distribution center with cutting-edge technology and advanced systems designed with sustainability at the forefront. Innovative
water recycling processes, zero waste to landfill, and fully recyclable product packaging made from food-safe materials are just some of the programs we’ve
implemented to support Nestlé’s ambition for zero environmental impact by 2030.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Technician (“QA tech”) is a primary executor of food safety culture through several analyses of raw materials, finished goods, and packaging. With the startup of the overall Nestle Glendale site producing CoffeeMate Liquid Creamer, the quality technician will have a unique opportunity to help startup laboratories both on and off the production areas. The QA tech will be able to grow coaching and training capabilities with starting up a new site and have ample interaction with several areas of the business to grow personal competencies. This position partners with all other areas of the manufacturing facility to ensure every bottle that goes out the door meets all Nestle specifications and is of the highest quality our consumers expect!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a safe work environment through risk predictions and discussion amongst team in regularly scheduled operational reviews (ORs)
- Verify Nestle Quality Assurance Center (NQAC) global methods for the overall site by evaluating local SOPs for each analysis against global methods to ensure
- compliance and fit-for-purpose
- Drafting, finalizing, and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and creating training material in digital systems to be used for future production operators
- and quality technicians
- Cross functionally works with other groups in order to perform problem solving analyses potentially involving quality related issues
- Train and coach current and future production operators, quality technicians/specialists, and other relevant personnel to perform and record results for analytical
- processes Manage raw material/packaging receipt and movement within site, including but not limited to, receipt in SAP digital system, analysis of material condition, and
- potential additional testing
- Verify food safety and consistency of finished product through sample collection, analytical testing, and other verification activities both on and off the production
- floor
- Plate microbiology samples of finished product daily to evaluate food safety risk
- Record results for verification into SAP and other digital systems as needed
- Perform control checks and calibrations on analytical equipment, both on the production floor and in main laboratory spaces at a specified frequency (ie. Daily,
- weekly, etc.)
- Record results for verification into SAP and other digital systems as needed
- Maintain laboratory environment that is clean, orderly, and safe by following proper Nestle policies, procedures, and techniques
- Take daily temperature and relative humidity measurements of necessary analytical and food safety areas within the lab, including but not limited to, laboratory
- refrigerator(s), incubator(s), oven(s), etc.
- Oversee inventory of supplies and laboratory consumables with ordering material as required, as well as upkeeping and reporting unusable equipment list
- Follow most up to date Nestle Guidelines for Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure physical safety, as written in the established Internal Control Plan (ICP)
- Preserve equipment conditions, as specified in the ICP
- Participate in various activities to constantly evolve and update laboratory practices to ensure physical safety and accurate, precise results throughout the year (ie.
- Revising procedures, create optimized process flows, etc.)
- Utilize quality data to trend issues involving analytical processes or other quality related issues
- Escalate raw material issues to the appropriate group through electronic workflows and follow through with root cause analysis (RCA)
- Completion of quality and food safety internal audits of the facility
REQUIREMENTS
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate degree in chemistry, biology, general science, or related field
- Open to flexing normal working time (shift, hours, weekends, etc.) as needed and helping cover other areas of quality in order ensure production success of the
- highest product quality
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of industry experience, preferably in a GLP factory
- Experience in beverage manufacturing, particularly in areas of Quality Assurance, production, or other related fields
DESIRED SKILLS
- SAP and other digital systems
- Project management
- Communication with vendors and other external interested parties
- Collaboration in both small and large teams consisting of different functions, to raise quality concerns and wins to others
- Convey information in multiple formats for training and coaching of quality processes as needed for all learning type to understand
