Position Summary
The Category Leadership Manager role assists in developing and executing category strategy with Meijer. Location is flexible with preference to Solon, OH and Grand Rapids, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Provide actionable category insights that drive superior category performance while positioning Nestlé USA (NUSA) as a strategic category partner with retailer.
- Champion a category‑first approach with retailers to become the “Voice of Choice” for actionable insights and category guidance.
- Deliver best‑in‑class category outcomes by leveraging key industry and custom insights tools.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal and external partners—including Category Account Managers (CAMs), Commercial Development (CD), Consumer Marketplace Insights (CMI), Commercial Intelligence Hub (CIH), and Strategic Revenue Management (SRM)—to develop holistic, insight‑driven solutions.
- Partner with CD and Category Management teams to provide guidance and insights that deliver enterprise‑level benefits across NUSA Category Management.
- Support Sales teams with clear, concise, and meaningful insights that enhance retailer relevance and engagement.
- Identify, embed, and activate insights in partnership with CAMs and CD to develop customer‑specific category plans for Frozen categories.
- Proactively uncover and translate market and consumer insights into growth opportunities, linking insights to clear actions and measurable results for the retailer.
Category Strategy:
- Identify category growth opportunities and leverage them in the development and activation of retailer‑specific category business plans, applying a category‑first approach to achieve 4P objectives.
- Support and/or develop 4P strategic direction informed by category strategy, customer and account best practices, and quantitative insights from CIH and CMI.
- Partner with CD to support national business priorities and category direction through customer‑specific category initiatives.
Customer Strategy:
- Develop and deliver clear, compelling retailer presentations that succinctly communicate category opportunities, risks, and recommendations.
- Create and maintain consistent category summaries that reinforce Nestlé’s category‑first approach, centricity, and thought leadership.
Requirements:
- Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and 7+ years related work experience
- Previous experience working with Meijer, with an understanding of retailer processes, expectations, and priorities, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to create category planogram (POG) proposals informed by category insights, retailer strategies, and Nestlé Gold Standard merchandising principles.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships while collaborating effectively across cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to identify category opportunity gaps with key retailers and develop compelling, insight‑driven sales stories to address those opportunities.
- Working understanding of the planogram (POG) development process, including hands‑on experience with JDA Prospace or equivalent space planning tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis, presentation development, and storytelling.
- Understanding of Commercial Action Plan (CAP) guidelines and Category Roadmaps, with the ability to apply them to customer strategies.
- Experience developing and presenting growth strategies and solutions at the customer level.
- Familiarity with industry data and insights platforms such as Circana, Dunnhumby, Kantar, or similar tools.

The approximate target compensation range for this role is $145K to $160K. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
