APPRENTICE MECHANICAL - FITTER & TURNER

Position Summary

Nestlé is seeking an Apprentice Fitter and Turner to join our team in the Gympie Factory. This is a fantastic trade career opportunity for those with a strong interest in fitting and turning.  During the 4-year Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship, you will undertake on-the-job, and formal training with an RTO to complete the trade accreditation - MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Maintenance) Fitting and/or Turning (2090).

The tasks that you may undertake as a fitter and turner include:

• Diagnosing and repairing faults with tools and machinery, general maintenance of manufacturing equipment, and onsite maintenance fitting.
• Interpreting engineering diagrams, drawings, specifications, and plans to determine suitable material and sequence of operations
• Operating various machinery including lathes, mills, and welding plant
• Performing computations and interacting with computing/digital technology
• Planning, organising, performing, and reporting on maintenance engineering tasks
• Welding, cutting, and grinding of various materials
• Assembling fabricated parts

To be successful in this role, you must possess

• Safe work ethics and an understanding of quality assurance
• Previous experience, training, or interest in fitting & turning or mechanical maintenance
• Good communication skills with a flexible can-do attitude
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously
• Pride in your work and attention to detail
