Position Summary
Rooted in a rich railroad heritage, Hager City is one of our two factories in Wisconsin—located across the Mississippi River from Red Wing, Minnesota and about 250 miles from our location in Jefferson. Over 50 dedicated associates come together to produce wet and dry coatings for our pet food brands nationwide, making this location truly special. We also work to do our part to care for the environment we share, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, and maintaining zero waste for disposal. Just a stone's throw away from Red Wing, Minnesota, enjoy stunning Mississippi River views and a vibrant array of dining and shopping experiences. As a Sustainability Engineer, you’ll oversee projects that support our environmental goals and ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and managing energy inputs to optimize performance and reduce resource consumption (electrical, water, gas, etc.). You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively manage key projects and will be accountable for the budget of assigned initiatives.
- Execute capital projects in function areas related to environmental compliance or continuous improvement initiatives that drive waste, energy, and water KPIs
- Prepare and file permit applications and routine regulator reports
- Develop and coordinate internal audit plans
- Monitor utility usage for the facility and provide guidance to area owners on how to reduce impact and promote energy conservation
- Report energy results and compare with other facilities to benchmark for improvements
- Create scope of work and evaluate bids for work completion and research energy utilization to continually reduce energy costs
- Examine outside contractors to assure compliance with all company standards including sanitation, safety, quality, productivity, and budgeting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 1+ years of experience leading environmental and energy programs and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing, industrial, military or related field
- 1+ years of project management experience
The approximate pay range for this position is $72,000- $101,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
