We have an excellent opportunity to join our Nestlé team as an Area Quality Manager at our Confectionery factory in Halifax, Yorkshire. As an Area Quality Manager, you would be responsible for all food safety and quality aspects within your specific department. You will be a key member of the Local Committee and contribute to ensuring the department is producing our fantastic products meeting all quality and safety standards.

 

Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as Quality Street and After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

Your Impact

 

The Area Quality Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and food safety are maintained. This position requires collaborating with various teams to implement quality objectives and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of quality awareness, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Quality Management and Compliance: Contribute as a member of the area Local Committee and factory Quality Assurance team to create and maintain compliance in hygiene, food safety, and quality.
  • Quality Objectives Delivery: Deliver quality objectives such as complaints reduction, foreign body reduction, and First Time Right (FTR) improvements.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are maintained at the required standard for the area.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Support the Nestlé Continuous Excellence programme in the quest for zero defects and carry out continuous improvement activities using everyday problem-solving techniques.
  • Incident Management and Audits: Ensure the successful management of quality incidents through participation in root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up, while also supporting area readiness for internal and external audits.

To be successful in the role of Area Quality Manager, you will possess demonstrable experience in quality-focused roles within FMCG environments, showcasing a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

 

Key Skills and Experience:

 

  • Educational Background: Ideally holds a degree or equivalent in a Science, Engineering, or Quality-related subject.
  • Quality Assurance Implementation: Experience in successfully implementing quality assurance programmes and influencing practices at all levels within the factory.
  • Quality Management Systems: Knowledge of working with Quality Management Systems and food safety along with knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and products.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in large teams and manage a significant number of stakeholders.
  • Coaching and Development: Experience in training, coaching, and challenging individuals to reach quality targets, along with leading improvement projects that deliver tangible quality enhancements.
