Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire  
Salary: Circa £55,000 inclusive of shift allowance and depending on experience + additional benefits
Shift Based Position – 5.5 days 42 hrs average rotational shifts.

We are looking for a Shift Manager, based at our Nestlé confectionery factory in Halifax. You’ll be rewarded with an attractive package, plus competitive bonus scheme.

A day in the life of A Shift Manager 

 

Key day-to-day activities will be:
 
•    Drive continuous improvements using TPM in the key operational business processes throughout manufacturing and empowering and inspiring people by supporting the line team and developing their capability.
•    Contribute to sustainably meet the Factory strategy targets in order to accelerate the business ambition.
•    Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with local laws, SHE and Quality standards by identifying risks associated to activities within zone and ensure reactive incidents are managed and resolved or escalated. Strive for zero unsafe conditions and behaviours to achieve zero accidents. 
•    Support Engineering on unplanned stops root cause and resolution. 
•    Support and execute identified planned maintenance tasks. Liaise with support departments and use their resources to make necessary changes.
•    Effectively manage the Shift Operational Review and the Autonomous Working Group (AWG). 
•    Adopt and nurture a working style which actively involves and motivates colleagues, promoting an environment of continuous improvement and excellence.
•    Develop organisational capability by supporting and co-ordinating in the transfer and enhancement of skills through coaching others and share current best practice within the team.
 
What will make you successful?
 
To be successful in this key role we expect you to have experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment and have strong service orientation amongst internal stakeholders with lots of proactive initiative and attention to detail.
 
Other key attributes we are looking for are:
 
•    Leadership experience in FMCG manufacturing essential (preferably Food or Drink)
•   Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment, with a high-energy, proactive style.
•  Experience managing and coordinating a large shift.
•    Ability to demonstrate coaching techniques.
•  Evidence of successful projects delivered with continuous improvement mindset, solving manufacturing challenges. 
•    Computer competency skill level intermediate as a minimum standard, Ideally SAP program knowledge.
•    High aptitude for problem identification from a technical perspective would be advantageous.
•    Demonstrate and understanding of Safety, Engineering, Quality and Labour regulations.
•    Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or six sigma practices or implementing TPM, not essential but preferred.
•    Educated to a Degree level would be preferred but not essential for this role.
