Job Title – Technical Operator ALFS (Advance Line Fitting Skills)


Halifax. West Yorkshire

Position Summary

 

Nestlé Halifax Factory is the home of Quality Street and After 8 Confectionery products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. 

 

We have a number of opportunities for talented, driven individuals to join our Nestlé Confectionery business within our Halifax factory. As a Technical operator ALF (Advanced Line Fitting), you will be helping to produce some of the nation’s favourite confectionery. 
 

A day in the life of...

 

You will be required to resolve operational problems on the lines, carry out fault diagnosis and first line repairs including: Lubrication, breakdown repair, changeovers and running adjustments. As this is a technical role you will need the following:

 

Other responsibilities include: 


•    Maintain a safe, sustainable and healthy working environment 
•    Organise line changeovers and running to ensure that all relevant departments and personnel are fully informed
•    Review daily achievement of targets and report variances
•    Complete relevant company documentation in a timely, conscientious and accurate manner
•    Understand the equipment, processes and Key Performance Indicators
•    Ensure compliance with the Nestle Quality Management System (NQMS) and quality policy 
•    As required to take part in 5S (workplace organisation), Total Performance Management (TPM) and focused problem solving
•    Attend relevant daily/weekly meetings  
•    Carry out training, instruction and competency assessment of others.

The successful candidates will be thorough, professional and care about the safety of themselves and others. You will need to demonstrate you care about delivering high quality products at all times and have a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Principles. You will be able to demonstrate ownership, high levels of results focus and strong communication skills. 

 

We are looking for people who enjoy solving problems and exploring how things work, whilst continually thinking of new ideas to improve safety, quality and performance to meet consumer needs. 

 

Experience and qualifications:


•    Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship – this is a necessity 
•    Experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) preferred

What you need to know

 

•    The shift pattern at Halifax is a 12 hour rotational shift which consists of either a 6 day or 7 day pattern. 
•    There are multiple opportunities available 
•    These are permanent contracts we have multiple contract types on offer (all contract types allow for annualized pay across the full year with no break in service and will be discussed as part of the interview process)
•    You will be required to provide evidence of your apprenticeship certificates
