Position Summary

 

Nestlé Purina continues to expand! Our newest facility in Hartwell, GA is on track to startup two new production lines in 2023 and an additional one in 2025. This facility uses modern production technology to meet increasing demand for canned pet food. Designed with sustainability and safety front of mind, this facility will play a pivotal role in our global environment commitment of Zero Waste for Disposal, Caring for Water, 100 percent renewable electricity use and zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We’re thrilled to call Hartwell, GA home to our 21st factory in the U.S. and looking forward to serving pets and the people who love them!

As an extension of the larger Technical Applications Group (TAG), this role will serve as the Operational Startup Leader (OSL) for the Hartwell factory expansion. Main area of responsibility will include planning and execution of line commissioning, qualification, and verification (CQV).

Note: As our business continues to grow, an ideal candidate will be open to relocation after being in Hartwell, GA for ~2 to 3 years as part of this role’s trajectory for initiatives within Nestle Purina’s network. Opportunity areas include other factory placement or corporate positions in St. Louis, MO within the Technical Applications Group.

 

  • Collaborate with the broader OSL team including streams from operations, quality assurance (QA), engineering, maintenance, and training.
  • During design phase of the project, verify that the new production lines are designed in accordance with divisional standards
  • During build phase, ensure construction drawings are executed as designed, participate in post-construction validations with Factory Operations, QA, and Corporate Engineering
  • Develop CQV Technical support resource plan (TAG, R&D)
  • Organize site acceptance testing of key equipment to verify it is meeting technical performance criteria
  • Identify and organize relevant process capability testing
  • Support line commissioning, lead qualification and support validation of equipment, unit operations and systems/lines across all product families
  • Coordinate nutrition validation, incubation study, net content study with TAG Product Specialists / QA.
  • Develop new standards for new equipment/product/capability matrix
  • Integrate standards and content into routines and training programs for factory teams
  • Provide training, mentoring and guidance to less experienced staff and others within the Factory
  • Serve as the process/product resource/SPOC between TAG and the Factory
  • Apply deep technical expertise to projects and challenges, demonstrating highly developed problem-solving skills and applying sound methodology to deliver an optimal solution (Go-See-Think-Do, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.).
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction ideas for assigned product lines and factories

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical/electrical/industrial/mechanical engineering/Food Science or a related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience working with food processing within in an industrial, manufacturing, production, or related environment
