The Director of Marketing is the P&L owner for the Consumer Care portfolio with primary responsibility to develop and lead robust, strategic marketing plans poised to deliver on topline, bottomline and market share goals. The Director leads the 3-year brand strategy for BOOST & CBE across the Retail, E-Comm & Medical Channels driving agile plans to deliver business performance, navigate the changing market dynamics through relevant communication & innovation plans, optimized marketing & trade investment plans and management of risk mitigation and amplification of opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- STRATEGY & EXECUTION
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for the BOOST/CBE business across DTC and Medical channels, and assure that cross-functional sales and marketing efforts support these overall plans.
- Direct the portfolio strategy, development and implementation of segmented marketing plans, including product mix, pricing and channels of distribution.
- Provide leadership and direction in the implementation of marketing strategies to achieve objectives for revenues, share, margin and profit.
- Identify and collaborate on new product and business development opportunities to help fill strategic gaps in the portfolio and growth plans
- Direct the collection of market and competitive data and consumer/patient insights. Personally interact with customers to gather information on industry developments and to identify opportunities. Identify market trends. Utilize this data and analysis in the development of marketing strategies.
- Champion consumer-centric brand-building best practices and efforts for the total Consumer Care business
- Oversee the development of all omni-channel brand and portfolio content, advertising and promotional communication materials
- Engage with global counterparts on Healthy Aging strategy and trends
- Create and maintain an environment of partnership and collaboration with sales, and with other departments, to assure the attainment of overall company goals
- Identify and drive test and learn opportunities to stretch the business
- BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
- P&L Ownership for ICP and 3-Yr Multi-year annual plans
- Driving Marketing team understanding of business consumption and shipment trends through the Monthly business planning process – assessing delivery against plan, identifying opportunities to drive growth, mitigating risks to drive gap closing mindset.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team on monthly forecasts – partnership with Finance, Sales & Supply Planning to review monthly KPIs and drive agile plans to optimize for changing market landscape
- Proactively utilize marketing mix/ROI assessment tools to continually improve marketing spend efficiencies
- Drive partnership with Commercial excellence teams and agency partners to ensure delivery against strategy, objectives and identification of new, creative ways to elevate marketing plans
- Provide proactive and consistent business tracking updates to internal senior leadership and global competitive intelligence teams
- Responsible for on-time and on-budget development and execution of all innovation and renovation plans for the brand
- PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Leads by example to motivate and inspire direct reports and cross-functional teams supporting the brand to exceed high performance targets
- Actively communicate expectations and provide regular feedback against those expectations through a robust performance management process, working with each team member to evaluate performance, provide feedback and training.
- Work with direct reports to build appropriate development plans and coach team to ensure that the training activities achieve mutual, agreed upon objectives.
- Participate in talent recruitment and selection to staff the organizations with the best people for current jobs, as well as future leadership, promoting workforce diversity
- Fostering the sharing of best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA strongly preferred (equivalent work experience that is uniquely well-suited and significant may be considered).
- 10 years’ experience with marketing and people management on retail consumer brand(s) with national presence and integrated marketing strategy including advertising, consumer promotions and customer partnership. Track record of successful business results.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong digital and brand-building experience (experience with Nestlé Brand Building principles is a bonus)
- Has an entrepreneurial spirit in how they approach the management of their brand
- Proven track record to exceed performance targets
- Strong learning agility – ability to navigate ambiguity, drive strategic direction
