SUMMARY:
Maintenance Associates are responsible for keeping machines in good working conditions to enhance efficiency and prevent malfunctions that could lead to costly repairs. To do this, the associate is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, preventive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
This is the intermediate level. The associate functions in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of maintenance, repair, and service activities on equipment in a developing capacity, with minimal technical assistance from experienced-level associates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates general understanding of industrial safety practices and regulations, in particular such topics as:
Lock-out/Tag-out procedures, fall protection, Personal protective equipment, and all other mandatory safety procedures related to the job.
Responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced
Understand and apply theory of operation of Machine and auxiliary equipment.
Has the ability to balance line and adjust speed to maximize efficiencies.
Understand product (bulks and components) flow.
Perform equipment change over effectively and efficiently first time.
Participate in Daily Management Systems (DMS) meetings.
Solve problem with the teams.
Responsible for cleaning and lubricating machinery, performing basic diagnostic tests, checking performance, and testing damaged machine parts to determine whether major repairs are necessary.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Associate is proficient in Mechanics, Electrical and other disciplines; associate is responsible:
- Electrical - Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment. Troubleshoot and repair Line equipment. Support customers by effectively interfacing with customer in repairing equipment as needed. Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required repairs and maintenance, able to replace and re-wire electrical motors (single phase, 3 phases).
- Electronics – Responsible of troubleshooting, repair and replace electronic components such as: relays, contactors, switches, encoders, proximity sensors etc…
- Mechanical- Repair and replace broken machine components. Diagnose malfunctions and analyze results using testing devices. Perform preventative maintenance and inspect parts for signs of excessive wear or damage. Repairs, modifies and/or replaces parts on all production and facility equipment.
- Pneumatic/Hydraulic - Maintains replaces and repairs all pneumatic/Hydraulic equipment, troubleshoot faults that occur in electrical devises associated with pneumatic/Hydraulic systems.
- Plant Systems -Monitor and maintain Boilers, Air compressors, Air conditioning, Dust collectors, and other plant utility systems. Identify energy loss and correct issues.
Use Reference Resources “workbooks and drawings” to complete problem solving. Uses causal reasoning to diagnostic problems. Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems. Able to engage in lateral investigations.
Maintain work area, maintenance shop, parts and supplies area cleaned and organized.
EXPERIENCE:
Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
- 2+ years maintenance professional experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- 2+ years in manufacturing experience
- Mechanical/electrical trade background, Journeyman, or equivalent technical school background desired
- Have a working knowledge of CMMS (would be a plus)
EDUCATION:
Technical degree or equivalent preferred
SKILLS:
- Good communication and Teamwork skills
- Computer Skills, demonstrate basic knowledge of the CMMS system, able to locate parts in inventory, identify work orders completed in a particular asset.
- Able to read blueprints and shop drawings and the ability to generate rough sketches as needed.
- Basic mathematical and reading skills with willingness to handle paperwork
- Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to use all standard tools of the trade including hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools.
- Basic electrical knowledge, demonstrate ability to use electrical tools including electrical test meters.
- Ability to operate machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses.
- Detail Oriented
- Good listener and can-do attitude, willingness to learn.
- Self-motivated and ability to work without constant supervision and meet deadlines
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
- Able to climb ladders and step ladder to access spare parts in storeroom
- Ability to work under and around machinery if inspection is required
- Work is primarily in production lines
- Able to safely lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
No travel is expected for this position.
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $25.89-$32.36. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
