POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an Export Specialist that will oversee the entire shipment process from booking to delivery. Through top-notch communication, this individual will engage with internal customers to create effective transportation planning and address service inquiries about billing, tracking, shipment status, and assisting with delayed cargo. You'll prepare insightful operational reports, support rate quoting, and maintain detailed customer profiles.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as main point of contact and resolve discrepancies and/or inaccuracies related to documentation from export forwarders, ocean carriers, and drayage truckers.
  • Manage end-to-end international ocean or air shipments, from booking at origin to final delivery. This includes tracking and tracing shipments, and assisting in locating delayed cargo.
  • Communicate shipment requirements to our transportation service providers and ensure they meet handling standards.
  • Review and process internal customer and carrier documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Input data into systems and resolve potential service issues proactively.
  • Research and file claims related to damages occurring during international shipping.
  • Address inquiries about billing, tracking, and shipment status.
  • Keep abreast of market intelligence research on potential service disruptions, cost fluctuations, and risk exposure and report proposed solutions to leadership team.
  • Prepare operational reports and present to team as needed.
  • Maintain detailed customer profiles and service preferences.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • At least 1 to 3 years’ experience with cargo booking and international documentation  required for shipments.  
  • Strong understanding of logistics procedures and Incoterms®.
  • Knowledge of carriers, providers, and global supply chain services.
  • Undergraduate Degree in International Business or related field preferred.  
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Proven experience in relationship building, facilitation, implementation skills and influence.

 

This position will be either a remote or hybrid role based on the selected candidate’s geographic location. Preference will be given to applicants who live within a commutable distance of Bridgewater, NJ, Chicago, IL, Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Long Island, NY. 

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
