Position Summary

Nestlé Development Unit: White Coffee Cup, Nestle Research & Development Singapore

At Nestlé Research and Development Centre in Singapore, we support the global and regional product development of NESCAFE White Cup, MILO, Nestle Professional and Ice Cream. Together with our cross-category competencies in Packaging, Science & Technology, Pilot Plant Capabilities and External Partnerships, we help to advance Nestle’s businesses from the heart of Asia.

 

As a R&D Senior Development specialist in formulation of Beverage Products, you are the partner for innovation and renovation of products and processes in response to business needs. You will be responsible for the recipe and product design according to requirements and leveraging existing or creating new knowledge. You will be part of the core team for projects with high business impact. You will interact proactively with colleagues from other functions/R&D centers and operations (factories, procurement, regulatory...), as well as business partners & suppliers in order to meet the overall project objectives.

 

A day in the life of...

  • Lead product development stream for future generations of instant Coffee Mixes.
  • Design recipes (dairy, non-dairy, plant based, white and black, foaming and non-foaming…) at kitchen/pilot plant scale up to factory scale
  • Interact proactively with the other internal functions and suppliers to ensure the overall project objectives are met.
  • Support consumer tests design and execution in collaboration with Consumer Insights group
  • Produce and dispatch samples with defined quality at agreed time, cost & quality, and reworked them as needed based on feedback
  • Propose and develop innovative concepts & prototypes based on trends/business requirements
  • Build knowledge on ingredients and their interaction in food matrices, scouting new relevant development, technologies addressing key consumer trends/needs/ regulatory framework
  • Leverage this knowledge to develop differentiated concept with strong consumer preference. Share it actively with others looking for synergies.
  • Networking, sharing, technical assistance and coaching
  • Manage market team and stakeholders effectively through timely communication, guidance, and assistance
  • Create synergies through effective networking with all relevant R&D Units, business partners, markets, SBUs, Head Office, external partners (Open Innovation).
  • Coach junior staff.

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in food science or related disciplines
  • Min. 8 to 10 years of experience in product development/formulation, preferably powder/ beverages
  • Solid knowledge about ingredients such as flavors, dairy & plant, coffee, texturizer, sweeteners
  • Proven communication and influencing skills with different stakeholders (business/RD/market)
  • Creative and solution oriented, teamplayer and recognized leadership
  • Ability proven to work successfully on several projects in parallel
  • At ease in an international environment & cross functional work internally and externally, creating a climate of trust
  • Comfortable with ad-hoc traveling
  • At ease with IT systems
