We are looking for a Food Scientist with expertise in the field of Biotransformation to join our exciting R&D team. In this role, you will apply Biotransformation technology (enzyme and fermentation technology) to improve nutrition/ taste/ functional properties of Nestle products and processes in ways that are sustainable, cost-competitive and consumer-relevant, aligned with Nestle purpose.

A day in the life of...

  • Manage local knowledge generation projects – from ideation to execution and transfer
  • Support local product development specialists in their innovation projects where Biotransformation technology is used
  • Provide technical assistance to factories and operations for Biotransformation related processes
  • Scout for and assess new, relevant technologies within the area of Biotransformation, especially with a focus in Asia and Oceania
  • Identify, initiate and manage collaborative works with key suppliers, academic and strategic industry partners, especially with a focus in Asia and Oceania
  • Connect with key internal stakeholders and scientific partners in the area of Biotransformation and adjacent fields

What will make you successful

  • PhD degree in Biotechnology, Technical Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering, Carbohydrate/Protein Biochemistry or similar field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in non-academic environment
  • Work experience in food industry desired
  • Work/study experience within international and multi-disciplinary setup a plus
  • Good communication skills (e.g. report writing and presentation)
  • Curious about different aspects of food & beverage
