Factory Human Resources Manager

Position Summary:

The Human Resource Manager role is accountable for providing Human Resources support to all salaried and hourly employees, as well as site leadership, through effective organizational design and execution of Human Resources strategy across the factory. This role will lead Human Resources activities, including handling recruitment, employee development, employee/labor relations, policy/contract interpretation, compensation administration and legal compliance. This is a factory HR role working on site 5 days per week. The schedule is predominantly first shift, but there is a need for flexibility to support second and third shifts as well as weekends.   

 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide expertise and guidance in recruitment management, employee development, employee/labor relations, guidance in policy/contract interpretations, compensation administration and employment law compliance
  • Manage the execution of people strategies that attract, train, and retain employees to meet short/long-term business goals
  • Design metrics and KPIs to measure business performance and analyze data/intel skillfully to ensure alignment with NCE/TPM initiatives/principles to increase employee competencies and improve performance
  • Champion HR initiatives and lead service deliveries in best practice and compliance with principles, policies, and procedures
  • Analyze current organizational structures, identify trends in employee benefits/behaviors, and propose new strategies to attract and retain superior performers
  •  Provide people management guidance to leadership and effective tools to inspire, redirect behavior and coach staff for optimal productivity, improved performance, and professional growth
  • Research contextual employee situations for appropriate resolve; assess management practices to ensure alignment with pertinent corporate policies/continuous excellence principles, and union contracts; and provide guidance to adherence of employment laws

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Organizational Development, Communication, or Industrial Psychology required 
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Organizational Development, Communication, or Industrial Psychology preferred
  • PHR or SPHR through HRCI/SHRM certification preferred
  • 7 years of Human Resources Business Partner Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as both HR Manager and/or HR Generalist in a production facility or distribution center environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State employment laws (e.g., EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, Unemployment Insurance Administration, and Worker’s Compensation)
  • Experience in labor-management relations, performing workplace investigations, and managing mediation, arbitration, and grievance processes
  • Experience in union contract management and employee-labor negotiations
  • Computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems: PeopleSoft or System Applications and Products (SAP)

 

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize work and multi-task several projects, simultaneously; and quickly adjust to new situations, assignments, and meeting deadlines within a fast-paced/vibrant environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g., flexible in collaborations, relationship management) with an affinity for building trust relationships
  • Ability to identify, resolve abstract and complex HR people problems; gather and analyze information skillfully; and meet challenges with resourcefulness and with resolution
  • Conscientious with a meticulous attention to details and an ability to explain complex principles clearly and concisely, and resolute in problem-solving
