As a Head of Public Affairs and Government Relations, you are responsible across the Corporate Affairs area of responsibility which covers the organization relationship to the external stakeholders particularly government / policy makers, opinion formers, civil society organizations, industry associations. Recognize strategic opportunities and appropriately respond to policy changes. Identify and monitor issues which affect the reputation and the operation of the company and where appropriate develop or strengthen strategic relations with selected organizations
A day in the life of Head of Public Affairs and Government Relations
- Liaise with different governmental agencies, including but not limited to National Food Authority, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, National Investment Coordinating Board, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry Finance, various Industry Associations, civil society organization etc.
- Monitor new/pending regulation which affects the operation of the Company, take proactive stance and make necessary representations before the governing agencies ensuring that the Company’s concerns are considered in the passage of regulations through industry associations
- Ensure that Food Registration Certificates and Halal Certificates of existing products are updated and file timely application for new products
- Evaluate label declarations in ensuring its compliance with applicable legislations and the necessary amendments thereof
- Ensure that the License to Operate (LTO) of each factory is renewed and issued timely and that all concerned units have copy of the LTO; Coordinate the application/renewal
- Ensure that all license for the Company's operation are processed and obtained on timely manner
- Assists other operating units in addressing issues affecting the operation of the company, such as issue with Quarantine Bureau, with Ministry of Environment, etc.
- Effectively lead, motivate and develop the communications team, including succession planning
What will make you successful
- 8+ years experience in area of government or external relation
- Fluent in English both in verbal and written
- Experience of working in different business functions or across industries
- Experience of senior-level negotiations and conflict management
- Team management experience, in particular the management of specialists
- Has analytical thinking and attention to details
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationship with authorities/industry networks
- Understanding on social, political, economic changes in the organization (Government procedures and formalities, as well as Local cultures & values)
- Communication and strong negotiation skill
