Job Summary:
The Senior Factory Controller is the steadfast custodian of stewardship and governance for the facility. Trusted senior co-pilot to the Factory Manager and Factory Leadership Team with direct dialogue with the Operations Controller. Accountable for all factory financial matters (vision, organization, practices, initiatives/projects…) and provide fact based decision making on both short term objectives and on long term strategic initiatives. Provide visibility and forecasts around costs related to the factory processes through the driving of relevant analysis and reporting (monitoring of the budget and controlling the variances), ensures compliance to financial legal requirements and NAS.
Primary Responsibilities
Cash Flow & Continuous Improvement (20%)
- Through their team, identify, drive and deliver cost improvement opportunities, be an active contributor to improvement projects and initiatives, validate, review and track proposed savings.
- Challenge assumptions for cost improvements in factory based on internal and external benchmark information on factory performance and costs.
- Actively drive NCE activities within the factory and ensure activities are in alignment with business OMP.
Reporting and Analytics (15%)
- Manage and interpret factory reporting of actuals and forecasts for the factory and key outside stakeholders; ensure transparency, accuracy and timeliness of this process; follow up and monitoring of progress to close gaps, ensuring Nestle financial policies, Accounting Standards and Costing Standards are followed by promoting ownership of data at source.
Strategic Evaluations (5%)
- Identify and lead strategic financial analysis relating to major or strategic decisions related to the factory to ensure full transparency of costs and non-financial implications.
Business Planning (10%)
- Drive business planning
- Manage the overall factory budget with factory management team as well as being the critical liaison between factory and Head Office in the business planning process.
- Perform forecasts, revisions to simulations if needed.
Capital Investments (5%)
- Develop, control and ensure robust evaluations of capital investment plans and requests including post CAPEX evaluations.
Performance Management, Development and Talent (15%)
- Coach and develop the factory personnel with focus on finance individuals & team including career and succession planning.
- Ensure factory finance personnel are meeting/exceeding performance expectations.
Knowledge Transfer (10%)
- Drive clear understanding of financial key figures, costing and business impact within and outside the factory, including organizing training sessions for non-specialists.
Compliance (20%)
- Manage routine audit activities within the factory to ensure compliance on critical areas eg) NAS, Costing Standards, statuatory accounting/tax, OPEX guideline and appropriately escalate business risks.
- Act as the champion of compliance and risk management for the site is the key contact for internal and external audits within the factory.
- Ensure clear control and visibility of assets and liabilities, including the development, implementation and compliance with internal controls in all areas.
- Accountable for Segregation of Duties (SODs) and assessment of compensating control effectiveness. This includes establishing a solid and periodic monitoring of the internal controls effectiveness and appropriately escalating business risks.
Requirements and Minimum Education Level
- University Degree (BA/BS) in Business/Finance and/or Accounting or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in financial operations, with an accounting background
- Experience within a network organization (internal and external providers)
- Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry experience (preferred)
- Working knowledge of financial concepts and principles including cost accounting, activity based costing, cash flow, NPV, IRR, ROI, etc
- Hands-on working knowledge of financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Ability to understand and communicate the drivers of product profit and loss
- Results focused, a self-starter with strong initiative, naturally inquisitive, able to think independently and has a desire to make a difference
- Intermediate to advanced financial modeling
- Communicate effectively and professionally in written and verbal form, including presentation skills
- Multi-task; manage/organize time, information and resources effectively in order to meet deadlines and respond to requests in a timely manner
- Strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills; ability to draw conclusions from information and develop recommendations; critically important to be able to deliver the message to non-finance professionals
- Partner with customers/cross-functional teams to drive business results and meet deliverables; ability to influence business decisions with concrete financial support
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
