Position Summary:
The Technical Buyer role is a critical purchasing position with functional responsibility for services and materials to include but not limited to maintenance part inventory, special project parts, and other routine or non-routine purchases. This position may support contract negotiation, work with corporate and local teams, create cost savings projects, and maintain supplier relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate purchases of supplies, equipment, services, and parts used by the maintenance department.
- Act as the overall owner for the purchase order life cycle. Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness, collaborate with requestor and approved suppliers, assign correct account details, execute and close purchase orders.
- Partner with Engineering/Maintenance team to ensure inventory accuracy of storeroom.
- Ensure compliance with all Nestle purchasing policies and perform periodic audits of processes.
- Provide support to Engineering for capital purchases.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements for factory purchases.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with fellow team members and other departments.
- Understand and follow factory management systems for human safety, food safety and/or environmental management. Understand and actively work toward achieving management system targets and objectives.
- Follow factory rules, procedures, and/or practices related to management systems. Report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the appropriate management system on all related procedures and programs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years combined experience in manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain, maintenance, or other relevant field
Skills:
- Basic accounting skills
- Negotiation skills
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient PC skills including MS Office
- Strong teamwork skills
- General knowledge of inventory management preferred
- General knowledge of cost accounting preferred
- SAP proficiency preferred
