Position Summary
To support sustainable fruit sourcing and procurement by developing strong partnerships with fruit farmers, promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and driving orchard development initiatives. The role is responsible for ensuring reliable fruit supply, providing market intelligence, advancing sustainability programs, and maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and company standards to support business objectives.
A Day in the Life…
- Advise and support fruit orchard farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve fruit quality, productivity, and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with fruit farmers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure a reliable and sustainable fruit supply base.
- Identify and develop new orchards to support localization and long-term fruit procurement strategies.
- Monitor fruit market dynamics, crop conditions, fruit availability, and pricing trends to provide accurate market intelligence for sourcing decisions.
- Conduct sustainability assessments and maintain accurate records through approved systems and tools.
- Support the development and implementation of emission reduction plans for selected project farms.
- Promote and implement water conservation initiatives, including drip irrigation and sensor-based technologies, across designated farming areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, sustainability, regulatory, WHO Code, and Local Code requirements in all sourcing activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support sourcing plans and achieve procurement targets.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to farmer engagement, orchard development, sustainability initiatives, and procurement activities.
- Engage farmers and suppliers proactively to understand their needs and provide timely solutions that support long-term partnerships.
What Will Make You Successful
- University or technical degree in Agronomy, Food Sciences, Agriculture, or an equivalent discipline.
- Hands-on exposure to working with farmers, agricultural projects, or rural communities.
- Experience in fruit procurement, sourcing operations, or agricultural supply chains.
- Good understanding of farming practices, farmer engagement, and rural market dynamics.
- Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), food safety, quality standards, and sustainable agriculture practices.
- Understanding of sustainability initiatives, including farm assessments, emission reduction programs, and water conservation projects.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret market intelligence related to fruit availability and pricing.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and persuasion skills to effectively engage farmers, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
