POSITION SUMMARY

Since 1997, the King William factory has been a major producer of the nation’s cat litter supply. Located on Tidy Cat Road just 25 miles northeast of Richmond, the 40-acre plant site is built adjacent to a 486-acre clay mine, for efficient and effective mining, processing, packaging, and shipping of raw material and finished product from the same facility. We are a Continuous Operation, with alternative shift options to mass produce both our conventional and clumping cat litter that supplies the mid-Atlantic region with nearly a half of a million tons annually - over one and a half a million tons produced by 2020.

For 50 years, brands like Tidy Cats® have combined the highest quality ingredients and science to even the most disposable products. The 70’s advanced into microencapsulated deodorant, by the 90’s we were clumping and scooping, and in 2000 we introduced Crystals® made from silica gel, and designed to last 30 days between changes. Innovation continues today. In 2013, Purina revolutionized the cat litter category, producing LightWeight® litter, which has all the strength, but only half the weight of conventional litter. These and future innovations have created demand that our King William, VA factory is proud to meet.

As an Environmental & Energy Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the environmental and energy program at the King William factory to ensure compliance through monitoring, measuring, analyzing, reporting and management of permits. You will partner with internal and external sustainability experts to identify improvement opportunities aligned with Nestlé’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy. To attain this sustainability strategy, you will champion measures to reduce waste and minimize environmental impact while increasing efficiency. You will identify, develop, justify and oversee improvement projects to ensure environmental compliance and align with company goals.

  • Maintain ISO 14001 certification and continuously improve the environmental management system for the factory
  • Oversee the management of waste in compliance with Zero Waste to Landfill guidelines
  • Complete timely permit renewals or changes for air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and any other environmental regulatory requirements
