Position Summary

 

We at Nestlé Research & Development in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland develop for Nestlé worldwide new products, processes, and packaging concepts in the areas of Dairy and Nutrition.

 

Within the Product Development Department of NPTC Dairy, and more specifically in the Adult Health & Wellness and Dairy Culinary Solutions team, we are looking for an open-minded and entrepreneurial Product Development Specialist working with us to shape the future of dairy products. This includes development of traditional dairy products such as liquid milk products, milk powders, creams, and evaporated milks, but also plant-based alternatives.

 

As member of our international and diverse team, you are responsible for developing innovation and renovation products including ready-to-drink, creams, and evaporated milks. You apply, build, and maintain knowledge and expertise in this area, and collaborate with other scientific, quality, and manufacturing experts. In addition, you provide technical assistance to our factories.

A day in the life of a Product Development Specialist

 

  • Develop innovative and competitive products which meet consumer needs
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute product development and/or projects in alignment with business plans and needs
  • Design, plan, and execute trials from lab & kitchen scale, through pilot plant up to factory scale
  • Provide support to local product development projects in the markets
  • Work with a cross-functional team within the R&D community and thus collaborate with scientists, quality and manufacturing managers, but also with marketing, application groups, and factories
  • Build and document knowledge and exchange on the latest methods, trends, and developments
  • Participate actively in expert networks to promote cross-fertilization between different sites and departments
     
What will make you successful

 

  • Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in food technology, food engineering, or related fields
  • Ideally 3 to 5 years of experience in R&D and/or manufacturing
  • Practical experience in dairy and/or dairy alternative processing in general, and liquid technologies in particular
  • Strong sense of teamwork and sharing culture, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • Any previous experience within the business area is desirable
  • Good oral and written English is a must
