Product Development Specialist

Our Nestlé Research and Development Center in Konolfingen (NRDK), Switzerland, develops for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging concepts in the areas of Milk, Dairy, plant-based and Nutrition products. This includes various process and filling technologies for liquid, powder or sterile products. In addition, it also provides technical assistance and engineering support for major Capital Investment Projects (CAPEX) to our factories.

Position Summary 

 

We are looking for a Product Development Specialist, to be responsible for managing the innovation and renovation of products, processes, and systems in Dairy Culinary Solutions. You will build your expertise and apply your knowledge to provide relevant scientific and technical guidance in response to business and consumer needs. Additionally, you will manage the product and project portfolio in I2L and guide junior project team members.

 

 

A Day in the Life of a Product Development Specialist

 

  • Contribute and propose innovative ideas and methods to NPTC Food, Food SBUs, and Operations
  • Build and document knowledge on the latest trends and developments in the field
  • Propose, plan, and deliver technical and scientific support for projects
  • Manage knowledge-building activities with initiative and present results to stakeholders
  • Lead projects according to market briefs, ensuring timely closure of all stage gates
  • Provide accurate and timely support to Application Groups and assist in product launches
  • Actively participate in expert networks to promote cross-fertilization between sites
  • Mentor junior project team members and develop competencies in the domain

 

 

What will make you successful

 

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Food Engineering, Technology, Sciences, or equivalent
  • Solid experience in Product formulation and development in Dairy based products. 
  • Experience in creamy desserts category.
  • Solid experience in R&D or operating/factory
  • Up-to-date knowledge of quality, safety, and hygiene requirements
  • Scientific and technical knowledge in the product portfolio
  • Exposure to different parts of the organization (assignments in different Centers or in Operations)
  • Ability to apply a structured problem-solving approach and use appropriate FI Tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with a strong sense of business and technical interrelationships
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in one other language (French, German, Spanish)
