Position Summary

We at Nestlé Research & Development in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland develop for Nestlé worldwide new products, processes, and packaging concepts in the areas of Dairy and Nutrition. 

Within the Product Development Department of NPTC Dairy, and more specifically in the Children Health & Growth Solutions Team, we are looking for an open-minded and entrepreneurial Product Development Specialist working with us to shape the future of school-age nutrition products. This includes development of dairy product solutions designed for children in critical transformation stage at the age of 5 years and above. 

As member of our international and diverse team, you are responsible for developing innovation and renovation of powdered product solutions for Children Nutrition. You apply, build, and maintain knowledge and expertise in this area, and collaborate with other scientific, quality, and manufacturing experts. In addition, you provide technical assistance to our factories.

 

A day in the life of...

•    Passionate to improve nutrition for children in school age
•    Proactively and curious to propose new ideas and projects to stakeholders in R&D, Markets and Strategic Business Unit
•    Deliver early prototyping, benchmark opportunities and enable decision thanks to your technically sound scenarios
•    Drive the development of innovative, tasty, nutritious and cost competitive products which meet consumer needs
•    Plan, coordinate, and execute prototyping, product development and/or projects in alignment with business plans 
•    Design, plan and execute trials on laboratory/kitchen/benchtop/pilot plant scale and support the execution of factory trials in collaboration with market operation teams
•    Coordinate, optimize and validate prototypes, raw materials, analytics, sensory, shelf-life and costs.
•    Deliver final product propositions together with scientists, manufacturing, quality, regulatory functions, and collaborate closely with marketing, consumer and global project management team
•    Build, document and present knowledge and exchange on latest methods, trends, developments, and coach peers
•    Participate in internal networks to promote cross-fertilization between different sites and departments
•    Plan and deliver technical and scientific evaluations and recommendations in R&D projects 
•    Deliver support to markets and operations, deliver product optimizations and drive practice-oriented solutions 

What will make you successful

•    Minimum 5 years of R&D in Food Product Development/Manufacturing/Research & Development in powdered Dairy and Nutrition products for children.
•    BSc/MSc/PhD Degree in Food Technology/Food Science/Food Engineering.
•    Hands-on experience in product development with focus on ingredient selection, recipe design, powder processing technologies including wet processing (such as pasteurization, UHT), spray drying and dry mixing.
•    Proven track record in driving recipe design and process optimization in global innovation projects which led to new product launches.
•    Strong drive and result focus combined with entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
•    Excellent communication skills with good sense of teamwork, networking skills and sharing culture.
•    Fluent in English (oral and written), at ease in international environment. Other languages are a plus.
