Position Summary

 

Our Research & Development center in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland develops for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging in the areas of Dairy and Nutrition. The Nestlé
Product Technology Centre Dairy plans and develops Innovation & Renovation pipelines to support growth and profitability of our Dairy business via a consumer centric approach. It ensures scientific, technological and manufacturing excellence through the development of the right competences.

 

Within the Food Material & Protein Research Team in the Science & Technology Department, we are looking for an open-minded Research Scientist working with us on the future of Dairy Products and Milk Alternatives. This includes research on traditional milk and plant-based protein sources as well as the area of novel proteins such as biomass derived proteins and other alternative protein sources.

 

In this position, you are responsible for the development of innovative concepts by combining protein science and dairy processing technology. You will apply, build and maintain knowledge and expertise in protein science & technology, and keep up with developments in allied research fields.

A day in the life of a Research Scientist in Novel Proteins

 

  • Deliver breakthrough and competitive innovation which meet consumer needs
  • Co-Lead scientific exploration area of novel proteins
  • Plan, Coordinate and execute projects in alignment with business plans
  • Design, plan and execute laboratory experiments in the field of food science
  • Create and manage Intellectual Property and communicate results in an effective manner
  • Build and apply expertise in aligned research fields, scientific and analytical disciplines
  • Collaborate with other R&D units within Nestlé and with academic and industrial partners
What will make you successful

 

  • PhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology or related fields
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant area of proteins
  • Knowledge in dairy processing as well as biotransformation is a strong plus
  • Good project management and organization skills
  • Strong sense of teamwork and sharing culture
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
