At Nestlé Research and Development in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland, we develop for Nestlé worldwide new products, processes and packaging concepts for a broad range of products of our Nutrition, Dairy, Health Science and Coffee businesses. In addition, we also provide technical assistance to our factories.

 

As a Senior Engineering Specialist, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team, leveraging your experience to scout for relevant new technologies, to drive the deployment and support of innovative products, processes, and systems , providing scientific and technical guidance, and ensuring manufacturing excellence and reduced environmental impact.

A Day in the Life of Senior Engineering Specialist

 

  • Proactively propose and drive new ideas, technical solutions, and projects to NPTC/R&D, SBUs, and Operations.
  • Build and document knowledge about the latest methods, trends, and developments in the relevant field.
  • Lead and manage knowledge building and business-related project activities.
  • Provide accurate and timely technical support to operations with sustainable solutions. 
  • Integrate scientific, technology, quality, safety, and environmental knowledge into the business.
  • Implement NHW and CSV strategies, coach and guide project team members, and promote cross-fertilization between sites.
  • Provide engineering expertise to achieve manufacturing excellence and competitive advantage.
  • Drive the deployment of new product and process technologies, validate pilot technologies, and integrate new technologies seamlessly into operations.
  • Lead the support of complex and high-profile capital investment projects through the entire project cycle. 
  • Manage project stakeholders, negotiate with key decision makers and leverage internal and external networks. 

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Degree in related scientific field.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of quality, safety, hygiene, process engineering, and Net Zero technologies.
  • Minimum 10 years of R&D or operating/factory experience.
  • Proven track record and practical experience in Spray Drying operations and powder handling.
  • Qualification in Project and/or CAPEX Project Management.
  • Strong experience in design, installation, and commissioning of Spray Drying operations.
  • Troubleshooting skills in industrial environment.
  • Practical experience in process modelling and development of digital twins. 
  • Deep understanding of maintenance and managing maintenance teams.
  • Experience with evaporated milk, retorted products, and milk powder.
  • Knowledge of utilities such as air heaters, steam, compressed air, and refrigerant.
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills.
