Position Summary
As a Senior Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for driving the development and deployment of innovations and renovations in spray drying, powder handling and process simulation at Nestlé’s Category Technical Unit in Konolfingen. You will ensure that new and existing operations meet the highest safety, quality, operational and sustainability standards. By providing expert guidance, collaborating across functions and demonstrating strong technical leadership, you will enable the integration of advanced engineering solutions into manufacturing environments. You will also facilitate knowledge sharing and capability building across global teams. Your contribution will directly support excellence in spray drying and powder handling operations, helping deliver safe and nutritious products to consumers worldwide.
A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineering Specialist
- Propose and drive new technologies in spray drying, powder handling, digital and process simulation
- Explore and validate breakthrough spray drying and powder transformation technologies
- Build and document knowledge on emerging spray drying and powder handling trends
- Develop CFD models and python/excel tools for rapid design and deployment
- Drive heat recovery and heat integration designs, including heat pumps, for Zero Carbon targets
- Lead spray drying and powder transformation R&D projects within budget and scope
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to support the deployment of CAPEX projects in factories
- Provide expert support to markets and factories on spray drying, powder handling
- Support the spray drying network through knowledge sharing and best practices
- Provide engineering expertise to ensure safe, efficient powder processing operations
- Drive deployment and scale-up of advanced spray drying and powder transformation technologies
What will make you successful
- Engineer or equivalent university degree; PhD in relevant field is a plus
- Extensive R&D and/or operating, factory or supplier experience, with significant exposure in different parts of the organization
- Strong expertise in design, installation and commissioning of spray drying, fluid bed drying, agglomeration and other powder process units, with up‑to‑date knowledge of quality, safety, ATEX, hygiene requirements and Net Zero technologies
- Practical experience operating spray dryers, fluid beds, powder handling
- Extended knowledge in CFD, DEM and systems modelling
- Experience working with universities and research institutes on new technologies
- Extended CAPEX project management and industrial troubleshooting experience
- Ability to work in teams, strong leadership qualities, openness and flexibility
- Proficiency in English; Spanish is a nice to have
