Position Summary

 

Our Research & Development center in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland develops for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging in the areas of Dairy and Nutrition. The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Dairy plans and develops Innovation & Renovation pipelines to support growth and profitability of our Dairy business via a consumer centric approach. It ensures scientific, technological and manufacturing excellence through the development of the right competences.

 

As Senior Packaging Specialist, you will coordinate packaging and sustainability (recyclability, net zero, less virgin plastic) dairy cross category activities and strategies. You will interface with material network champions on strategic new materials (paper, laminate, fiber, compostable, bio sourced, metal) innovation and project, key supplier partnership, key academic collaboration, and start-ups scouting. You will also ensure the role of LCA champion for the packaging team, including the assessment, selection and implementation of new tools in cooperation with R&D Climate Change team. 

A Day in the Life of a Senior Packaging Specialist

 

  • Deliver short, medium and long-term packaging solutions to businesses and markets as per packaging roadmaps through Nestle's packaging environmental sustainability policy, consumer-led innovation or technology push on alternative, plant based or new milks.
  • Support, lead or manage projects with cross-functional teams, deliver project requirements according to project governance. 
  • Recommend, plan and deliver technical and scientific expertise for R&D center projects, SBUs, Zones and Markets.
  • Provide accurate, cost-efficient and timely support to Zones and R&D units using knowledge of Best-in-Class Specifications and through problem-solving methodologies; build competence in the markets by delivering functional training.

What will make you successful

 

  • Master/Engineering degree in Packaging 
  • 5 years packaging experience dry dairy powder, liquid dairy and sensitive food in R&D with significant and proven  experience  on :
    • monofilm pouch and sachet development, industrialization and launches
    • paper pouch and sachet development, industrialization and launches
    • paper straw development
    • packaging life cycle assessment
  • Developed knowledge of packaging quality, safety and hygiene requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of packaging sustainability design, recycling and low carbon emission
  • Advanced knowledge of packaging material (laminate, mono film, paper, fiber, metal, aluminum, plastic resin, bio-sourced resin, compostable resin) and of filling & packing technology (HFFS, VFFS, ... )
  • Result oriented and Communication skills 
  • Fluent in English
