Position Summary

 

We are currently looking for a highly competent Legal Counsel to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. You will support the Nestlé group’s procurement of direct materials with holistic, pragmatic and business oriented legal advice, in particular on transactional matters including compliance with rules and regulations that may apply to derivatives transactions.


Focusing on Direct Materials categories (commodities, packaging, technical, logistics, Co-Manufacturing and ingredients), you will report directly to the General Counsel of Nestrade and will be an integral part of the dedicated Legal Procurement team for the Nestlé Group.

A day in the life of a Legal Counsel - Direct Materials

 

  • Responsible for providing legal advice and support to all direct material categories within Procurement (possibly focusing on certain categories based on    the expertise of the team) and fostering working relationships with relevant clients.
  • Raising awareness, visibility and the importance of Legal matters to relevant internal clients
  • Supporting the Legal Procurement Team in developing best in class form agreements, processes and trainings for the Procurement community.
  • Project management with multiple stakeholders.
  • Claim management in liaison with multiple stakeholders
  • Protecting the best interests of Nestlé, always aligned with the fundamental Corporate and Procurement policies


 

What will make you successful?

 

  • A minimum of  3-5 years PQE as a Lawyer
  • Experience of working in varied legal environments and with people from different disciplines and cultures
  • Experience in working in Procurement or supply chain related matters with a focus on direct materials 
  • Understanding of complex commercial arrangements (tolling, PPA, Co-manufacturing agreements),derivatives markets and trade finance structures would be an asset.
  • The ability to advise in relation to activities and processes connected to the negotiation and procurement of direct materials
  • A developed knowledge of commercial law and practice and excellent contract negotiation skills.
  • An ability to apply the law to gain business advantage  
  • Knowledge of legal requirements/regulations for derivatives is a definite plus
  • Common law qualification is considered an advantage
