Position: Assistant Manager – Safety, Health & Environment

Position Summary:

Provide comprehensive support for all aspects of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), with a strong emphasis on effective implementation and sustainability. Foster continuous improvement in SHE performance in alignment with Nestlé Continuous Excellence to cultivate a "Safe by Choice" culture within the factory.

 

A day in the life of the role:

  • Assist in guiding and coordinating the creation and execution of the Factory's Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) strategy and program.
  • Propose factory SHE goals that align with both Market and Corporate objectives.
  • Track and communicate performance metrics to enhance decision-making and integrate SHE considerations into business operations
  • Ensure adherence to all company principles, policies and requirements related to SHE, including Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE), Total Performance Management  (TPM), Nestle Environmental Management System (NEMS) and Nestle Safety Management System (NSMS). Collaborate with functional departments to meet SHE-related legal obligations.
  • Facilitate training sessions and conduct internal evaluations of the company's SHE management systems, as well as oversee ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes.
  • Assist in the risk assessment program by conducting evaluations, investigating incidents, implementing corrective actions, and performing audits, while prioritizing Best Factory Standards (BFS) and promoting a positive safety culture. 

 

What will make you successful?

  • Education: A degree in Engineering. Relevant professional qualifications in Occupational Safety & Health/ Environment would be an added advantage.
  • Expected experience: Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Language skills: Fluency in English and Sinhala
  • Other skills: Possess an optimistic, results-oriented mindset with a proactive approach, coupled with the ability to persuade and inspire others
