Specialist / Senior Specialist requires a PhD degree in Nutrition Science, Nutrition Epidemiology, Public Health or related Life Sciences, or Medical Sciences and an additional 3-5+ years experience beyond the PhD in nutrition research, food industry or academia

Position Summary

 

We are searching for a Specialist/Senior Specialist Nutrition at Nestlé Research. This position requires at least 3-5 years of experience post-PhD.

 

In order to join our nutrition team at Nestlé Research you should demonstrate a spirit of innovation in nutrition. Building on your understanding of dietary intake methods and analysis, you will be confident in analyzing and interpreting data from dietary intake studies in humans and you will be able to conduct and direct analysis of epidemiological data in nutrition. You should enjoy the development of scientific publications, dietary intake models, and nutrition/diet quality indices with limited supervision. You will translate findings of research, dietary guidelines and trends into innovations such as nutrition concepts, nutrient profiling systems, product recommendations, and/or digital prototypes that add value to the lives of our consumers. You can communicate well and confidently share results with both scientific audiences and business colleagues.

A day in the life of a Specialist/Senior Specialist in Nutrition

 

  • Build knowledge on dietary intakes of various populations by understanding and interpreting data from human, clinical and epidemiology studies
  • Perform statistical analyses on data from dietary intake and nutritional epidemiology studies, and assess diet quality against health indices
  • Develop methodology and build capability in conducting diet modelling studies and nutrient profiling
  • Identify nutrition gaps and opportunities and use these findings to build tools and knowledge for business applications
  • Develop or contribute to Nestlé Guidelines, Policies, Procedures, Commitments, nutrition consensus & position papers, expert opinion reviews, technical notes, and internal and external communications in the area of your expertise
  • Initiate and manage scientific research projects in nutrition
  • Coach and develop the scientific capabilities of more junior professionals on the team
What will make you successful

 

  • Specialist / Senior Specialist requires a PhD degree in Nutrition Science, Nutrition Epidemiology, Public Health or related Life Sciences, or Medical Sciences and an additional 3-5+ years experience beyond the PhD in nutrition research, food industry or academia
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis of dietary intake data using programs such as: SAS, R, or SPSS – or ability to transfer data analysis skills to one of these software packages
  • Relevant publications in the area of dietary intake research, nutritional epidemiology or diet modelling
  • An innovative spirit who enjoys developing new ideas and prototypes
  • Good communication skills and ability to be able to coach others
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and in cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English; any other language would be a plus
