Position Summary

 

As a Senior Specialist in Inks and Printing of Recyclable Packaging, you will innovate printed flexible packaging to advance circular economy, implementing printable solutions and new structure designs that increase the value of used packaging in recycling streams and enhance second life of recycled packaging materials, while not sacrificing packaging food protection properties and resource efficiency.

A day in the life of a Senior Specialist in Inks and Printing of Recyclable Packaging

 

  • Gather and create scientific knowledge related to impact of inks and printing approaches on all aspects of packaging end of life including collection of packaging waste, sorting and recycling
  • Initiate appropriate studies and set up respective alliances
  • Follow industry developments of both printable solutions and recycling technologies aiming packaging sustainability, evaluate their potential and contribute to promising industry projects
  • Network proactively externally and internally, communicate on ink and printing related aspects of packaging sustainability
  • Create opportunities for improvement of packaging end of life by reconsidering printable solutions, printing designs and build-up of multilayer flexible packaging structures. Provide knowledge-based justification to trigger the respective changes in packaging and eventually support implementation within Nestlé businesses
What will make you successful

 

  • Master of Science level in Chemistry, Natural Science, or similarly relevant technical education. PhD is an advantage
  • Experience in working in a research environment, ideally within project teams
  • Work experience (+ 5 years) in the field of flexible packaging printing inks, embracing the technologies of flexographic and/or roto-gravure printing and multiple ink chemistry families (NC, PVC, PU, PVB, acrylic etc). Liquid ink production, application technology, development would be useful knowledge
  • Understanding of flexible packaging production, properties, use, application requirements, food safety, food protection and/or end of life would be highly useful
  • Knowledge of the packaging value chain including raw material suppliers, equipment and converters
  • Knowledge sharing experience
  • International experience is an advantage
