Position Summary

 

We are looking for a Department Manager Food Safety Research, to assess and implement novel integrated solutions in food safety risk assessment to accelerate product innovation, support food safety and compliance. The goal is to be recognized globally as the Center of Excellence in food safety expertise and research.

 

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. A Day in the Life of a Department Manager Food Safety Research

 

  • Scout actively for new/emerging technologies and tools in microbial and chemical risk assessment
  • Develop and maintain state-of-the-art expertise in food safety research.
  • Provide support and expertise in food safety to Product Technology Centres, Application Groups, Strategic Business Units, and Globally Managed Businesses
  • Contribute to key projects of Nestlé Research, helping accelerate new product development
  • Generate high-quality data to support food safety dossiers
  • Provide appropriate expertise in risk assessment to support early warning issue evaluations and food safety incident/crisis management
  • Manage the Department project portfolio in line with overall NR/Institute research strategy
  • Manage the department according to the agreed resource plan and budget, attracting and recruiting talents, and leading and developing staff to ensure availability and capacity in chemical and microbiological food safety research

  • Advanced visionary and analytical skills coupled with excellent communication, diplomacy, and strength of character to lay out facts and options to top management

  • Proficiency in English
