We are looking for a Department Manager Packaging Materials, to lead teams in researching, developing, and testing biodegradable, paper, and plastic materials. Delivering scalable packaging solutions, you will collaborate with the Nestlé Product and Technology Center and businesses, contribute to Nestlé Institute of Packaging Sciences roadmap, identify strategic technologies, and inspire breakthrough discoveries.

A Day in the Life of a Department Manager Packaging Materials

 

  • Assign appropriate expertise and resources to projects
  • Act as project leader for up to 5 projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget deliverables and coaching project managers
  • Establish a transparent framework for empowering employees to deliver packaging material solutions, knowledge creation, and scientific discoveries
  • Build and develop a high-performing team with a strong succession plan
  • Adapt organizational design to meet new expertise requirements and actively recruit talented individuals
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners
  • Represent the Institute during VIP visits and Nestlé forums
  • Influence strategic roadmaps for technology choices
  • Deliver innovative material solutions

 

What will make you successful

 

  • PHD and/or Master's degree in packaging engineering, materials science, or food technology
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in the packaging industry, up-to-date with advancements and incorporating them into packaging strategies
  • Experience delivering packaging innovation in a retail or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams in an R&D or operational environment
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong Leadership and team management skills
  • Fluent in English
